Avril Lavigne, also known as Romany Yves Mesina, is pictured a Multnomah County Sheriff's Office booking photo. Police in Portland, Oregon arrested a convicted rapist who legally changed his name to Avril Lavigne. According to The Oregonian, police issued a warrant for the 30-year-old man, who was born as Romany Yves Mesina, on suspicion Lavigne had been photographing young women and teen girls and sharing the images on social media. Lavigne was also wanted for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender following a 2009 conviction of second-degree rape, the newspaper reported. Court documents obtained by KATU-TV, show the man legally changed his name to that of Canadian singer Avril Lavigne in 2014. On Tuesday, Lavigne told an Oregon court that he had registered as a sex offender while in jail in January. The man pleaded not guilty, according to KATU-TV. “I’m already properly registered. I filled out the papers in January, in jail,” the news station quoted Lavigne as saying. A police spokesperson told KATU-TV that Lavigne did not include his proper address when he registered as a sex offender. Sex offenders are required to register every two years and include a current address, the spokesperson said. “I’ve already filled out the sex offender registration in January, in jail, and I got released. I got brought back because they thought I failed to register and then they found out I did register and they let me out again,” Lavigne told the court. The man is due back in court next week. globalnews.ca/news/2679965/sex-offender-named-avril-lavigne-arrested-in-portland-oregon/?sf25652358=1

Why would you change your name to that? Reminds me of the guy who murdered his mom for not getting Avril tickets.

Woah what? Not heard about that one Here's an article on it. That dude who killed his mom just sounds like a piece of shit. You're 39, living with your mom, and you got so angry you threw a temper tantrum that ended in the death of your mother? I'm still not sure which one of them the article said was bi-polar (the mom, i think) but still. Grow the fuck up. Also, at the end of the article where it says they had quarrels at least once a month due to him not wanting to do household chores is ridiculous. I mean, all of this is pretty fucked up, the murder and the rapist.

You know, telling him to grow up seems incredibly inappropriate concerning that this dude killed his mother. Something like "WTF", "go to hell" or "RIP" seems more appropriate.

The grow the fuck up was more in relation to their fights about him not wanting to help around the house when he was a 39 year old, and the fact he threw a temper tantrum because his mommy wouldn't get him something. I think it's fitting because he is acting like a child. I don't see it as inappropriate. I do see it as inappropriate that he killed his mother because he didn't get his way. But looking at it from a different stand point, he does seem mentally ill since he did what he did. Maybe, seek treatment is the most appropriate.

Yes there are some very sick people out there that need help, not judgment or condemnation. The guy in my sig is a musician that has bipolar disorder and he takes medication for it and is a perfectly normal, very nice, amazing person. It pains me when people talk about bipolar disorder or other mental illnesses in a negative (and usually very uneducated and ignorant) way like that, because generally those people are just like anyone else, they just need treatment. Some of the most amazing people have mental illnesses, for example Sia has both bipolar disorder and depression. You would never know it just from looking at her because, yeah guess what, she is a normal person aside from her issues. So it really bothers me when people speak negatively about mental disorders or people who have them.

Wait, that was so random. I don't get why this have anything to do with Robert Nyon's murder of his mother? Did the guy in your sig 'struck his mother in the head with a bottle of cognac, stabbed her nine times in the back and then dumped household cleaning solutions on her dead body'?
And I'm sure nobody said anything negative about people with mental disorder? Avrilfan04 meant that having bipolar disorder is not an excuse for that murder or his 'childish' life.

Because people with mental illnesses often can't think rationally a lot of the time and can act out of their control. We don't know the ins and outs, this man could be very ill. And without knowing if he is mentally ill or the severity of his potential illness, I really don't think we have the right to judge him or say things like 'grow the fuck up' and 'go to hell'. Bipolar could well be an excuse if he lost complete control, it is not just mild mood swings. I think what Bogo was saying is not to judge him based on a potential illness and that some people can live relatively normal lives, whereas other people really can't. People are not their mental illness, and others shouldn't judge them as such.

Whether he was mentally ill or not, his actions were callous and were certainly not involuntary - I am glad that he received 40 years in prison. I know 3 people who have bipolar disorder but they are not even close to being violent. Though each person should be evaluated individually, if one could make those decisions of killing his mother and defiling her body with household chemicals while being maniac - I think his violentness have a lot to do with his mental disease of course, but also along with his personality and morality.
