I mean, she's completely forgotten in the media. No one talks about her anymore, her last album sales were bad. I just remembered the days when this forum was one of the biggest forums around the world and now it has only afew users it's just sad. What you think about Avril popularity right now? Do you think that she will be the big star that she was?

It's sad, yeah. But nothing lasts forever. The forum may be smaller but we lost so many members when the old site went down. Remember there's also not a lot of stuff going on with Avril right now she'll get media attention around the release of album 6

What we need here is a grand comeback. I hope the same, but I doubt it. I mean, if she still working with outdated writters/producers like Chad, Marylin Manson, David Hodges, Martin Johnson, Nick Carter, Ryan Cabrera (I can see this happening ) etc. she will never get a huge comeback. She needs to reinvent her self and work with huge writters and producers that are making HITS today.

What we need here is a grand comeback. Pls Yeah it is sad, but she was really popular for 3 albums which is a pretty good feat. Pop music is hard to stay on top in. Tbh, I'd love smaller, more intimate tours. That's if she comes back to Europe/UK, I'm sure she has enough popularity to do a club tour. Avril being not being a "pop star" could actually be really nice and authentic. Ofc if that's what Avril wants and Epic allows her. They MUST know their strategy with her isn't working.

I really don't see a big comeback happening; I hate to say it but her time in the spotlight is over. I would love to see her as a more mature artist - like you mentioned her reinventing herself. There was a discussion like this a week ago or two here and the biggest problem with her doing a reinvention of herself comes the risk of alienating current fans. But I'm certain there can be a balance between "new" and staying true to her roots. She just needs to drop the bratty image once and for all to achieve this IMO.
Currently debating whether or not to keep this thread open- as this is a topic that has been talked about a lot in the Random Avril disc. thread which has exhausted the room for any new discussion on the topic- not sure if there's anything else to say.

On a personal level I have been struggling to follow Avril Lavigne as much as usual because I am losing interest. ttsmu is right she needs to be upping her game right now if they are to have any chance of sixth success with the next album(s) Increasingly I find myself viewing her as a rather ordinary person because she hasn't done anything outstanding for so long. She's becoming a bit mediocre to me and I can't explain why.

everything has expiration date...in 10 years from now, all the big stars at the moment(JB, Ariana Grande, ect...) are gonna be on the same level as Avril is now... ...but for sure she left her "seal" in the game...and everybody knows who she is! She has sold over 16 million copies worldwide, went platinum, has #1 singles..she did her work, and maybe Avril doesn't want to be "big" again...

I think its possible for Avril to make a comeback.
Take Green Day for an example. People believed they sold out once they released their album Dookie back in 1994. Their 2000 album, Warning, definitely did not help as it was one of their least successful albums. However they rose back to worldwide fame with American Idiot.
While American Idiot is thematically very different compared to Dookie with the fact that it's a concept album and very political, musically it is not significantly distinct to Dookie.
There's still a sliver of hope left for Avril.

She's kind of irrelevant now to the wide public. Look at Fly, she released a new song which has a really touching meaning to it but no one cares. Most people only see her as gossip nowadays (love life etc). We should accept that and love her still because we know better than the majority.

I would like her to have a hit or semi-hit again so that people don't just think of her as a bratty has-been because I think that does a disservice to the impact she had on the music scene and the quality of her early music. Also it might make her label stop pushing her back into the studio to keep recording the ame "hit" songs if she actualy has some success because the label obviously wants hits from her

Its hard to guess what future will bring for her, she can reinvent herself or continue to be remembered as a pop-punk princess from 2000's. But still i'm happy to see her making music and i hope she'll find herself in a better way in the future. And also the only wish i want from her in future to decreasing autotune-computerized production level, i believe that this can also help her to revive her music career much better

Personally, I don't think there's anything to worry about. It'd be amazing for her to get some airplay with her next record since the past like 2 got virtually none. But as long as there's new music and new eras for future, it doesn't bother me. I just want something new and better from her..... Sad that Epic records pretty much screwed her and most of their artists up, especially when it comes to timing and promotion. Cher Lloyd was huge but she hasn't made a record in 3 years (presumably because of Epic). Epic made Meghan Trainor rerecord most of her record and she's huge too...
