I think it's the best she's looked...period.
So mature and gorgeous...little make up and proper grown up. I really feel this could be the turning point not only in her life but also in her career.
As she mentionted herself in the article, this tough time dealing with Lyme Disease has been a "wake up call". She knows what's important now and I don't believe "radio friendly immature pop songs" like HK and RnR will ever come out of her pen again. She now has plenty new experiences to draw inspiration from and many more will follow I'm sure.
One more Christmas album or Greatest Hits album with Flopic and then burn that bridge without ever looking back. In the mean time work on other projects like charity, cookbook or movie/collab, stay healthy and start a family. Enjoy life and really live in the moment.
Then, in about 2 yrs, you find an indy label or start your own and continue making only the music you wanna make. At your own pace. It's not about obtaining fame and fortune anymore. That's been done.
Bye "Motherfucking Punk Pop Princess" and Hello "Mrs Singer Songwriter"...I truly believe that's the way to go!

Bye "Motherfucking Punk Pop Princess" and Hello "Mrs Singer Songwriter"...I truly believe that's the way to go!This should've started happening with GL, but thanks to RCA it didn't materialize, sadly. And it didn't get much better with Epic, thanks to their "intervention" after the albums was "done" in late 2012, and also the infamous HK that she unapologetic created and even enjoyed. I also don't care about success and sales anymore (never did), I care about music quality, good performances and solid tours around the world; she still has a nice fanbase that will let her still tour on a consistent basis and get a little money while doing; it might not be as much as she did before, but still decent enough. Her words in that interview make me a little more optimistic, but I'm still not completely confident about it. We'll see how it goes, but I hope she chooses the singer-songwriter path more than the "popstar" path that hasn't work too well for her lately.

I do not think just because she had a "wake up call" that it necessarily means she won't ever write fun songs again. She may just not be as willing anymore to put up with BS from labels when they tell her to write those kinds of songs. She may be inspired to go to another label after this next album or maybe start her own. But I don't think she'll ever stop writing fun songs every once in awhile. HK was all her idea and even if others don't like it, it makes her happy. If she felt like it, she could write an entire album of songs like that. If anything, after what she's been through it should be time for her to have fun, not write a bunch of dark and depressing ballads. Nothing has to be bratty or immature but she could still write fun and upbeat songs if she wanted to. All she said is that this experience has made her aware of what she really wants in life, which is just love and happiness. We don't know what her musical plans are. For all we know, this could mean she is going focus less on music for awhile and maybe start a family or go for acting again.

Nobody said she should not create more upbeat stuff and I don't think many people expect her to write "dark and depressing" songs, maybe those who still want a "UMS 2.0". But I think it's reasonable to want/expect her to stop with the "Mother-fucking princess" (bratty and immature) image she's being portraying since TBDT and start making more mature, grown-up music, whether it's slow, mid-tempo or upbeat. Of course we don't know what her music plans are, but it would be such a disappointment to see look so mature in that interview and then keep releasing songs like HK, RnR or Girlfriend. And if she focused more on other things for a while, fine by me, as long as she shows she's a grown-up woman and not a teenager anymore. And if she wants to have those "fun", "carefree" moments, make them more balanced.

I remember when Demi opened up about her depression and ED, the record she came out with besides Skyscraper was super sexy/rnb ish and not so much about her feelings, like the past records were filled with. I guess she wanted to forget most of it and did love/up tempo songs instead. So it could go both ways, but I hope we get some very amazing singersongwriter songs.
