She really made a Xmas type of video in the end of summer lol. Made me think of TMIO a little bit. She had some 70s style clothes and settings. Plus I noticed some past Taylor's like classic Taylor in the yellow dress and Red Taylor and WANEGBT. I wonder why she did that. She also changed her usual type of lover for this video.
Sidenote: are things changing or why are artists releasing music videos so early. They're usually released at midnight eastern time 🤔

Wow so much to comment on!
As far as the re-recordings go, I'm guessing she said she can't start until 2020 probably because a certain amount of time has to pass. So that's probably why she didn't mention reputation, though by the time she is done with the first 5 albums, she can probably start doing rep by then anyway. I also wonder what direction she'll go in, like a lot of people think it's as easy as just singing them over again with her new voice but it's so much more than that. They have to recreate the instrumental tracks piece by piece. I don't know if she'll try to use the same producers again. If they want to recreate them as close as possible to the originals, they would need to get the same instruments again, same microphones again. Even just using a different type of microphone can bring out different tones in the voice. It would be extremely tedious to try to recreate the tracks exactly. I'd say even impossible unless they kept a record of what exact instruments were used, what ProTools effects, etc. I read that she wouldn't be able to recreate them note for note anyway, they have to have a little differentiation, so she will probably change them up at least a little I think.
The "spelling is fun" line I think was taken out on the iTunes edition, but not the Apple Music or Spotify editions. It was also released that way for radio I think.
I love the music video for Lover! I love that each room has a different color and emotion associated with it. I also like the connection that her lover in the video is the dancer from the King of My Heart performance from the rep tour, so it's like a continuation of the story with the "king of her heart." Some were complaining that Joe should have been in it but I think that would have been cheesy and too "on the nose," too obvious. And they like to keep their relationship private, that would have just opened it up for the whole world to see. I'm glad she didn't go that route.
Am I the only one who's completely obsessed with her lavender microphone? I just love all the pastel color schemes this era. Loved the livestream event too and the live performance of The Archer. I am so excited to hear the whole album tomorrow! And I loved that she read pages out of the diaries too. Gonna go to Target tomorrow night and pick up a copy!

Yes, I’m glad they didn’t use Joe. When you think about it, Taylor is much to wise to ever do that. Did you see her on GMA? Robin (I can’t stand her) Roberts tried to get the one whose name we cannot speak cough up some lyrics, poet style, but Taylor was having none of that either.

^ I'm the same way. I don't care for Robin Roberts either.
And I didn't understand what you meant about the ME! edit, but I googled it and I understand now lol. It's so odd that this edited version is silently replacing the original.

Just finished listening, it’s ok. Some of it might be growers.
I will say that lyrically I think this is definitely one of the strongest albums, maybe even the strongest album, in terms of lyrics.
However there are some kind of forgettable tracks IMO. Like I Forgot You Existed, it’s really underwhelming as an album opener IMO. There’s no hook or catchy chorus. It’s kind of just there. But maybe that’s the point. Because she forgot this person existed so it’s not even worth coming up with a catchy, memorable song. It’s supposed to be forgettable like the person it’s about.
There’s some other meh tracks but I’ll do a more complete analysis later. Tracks that stood out to me were Paper Rings, London Boy, Death by a Thousand Cuts, Soon You’ll Get Better, Afterglow, and Daylight.
I think Cruel Summer and Cornelia Street are both good but way overhyped. It’s Nice to Have a Friend seems like the least favorite track, I don’t think it’s as bad as people say, but it’s a skip for me. It’s just... ok.
I feel like most of the songs are just so short.

Singles aside, my standouts are Cruel Summer, The Man, Paper Rings, Cornelia Street and London Boy. I quite like I Forgot You Existed. Anything after London Boy on the tracklist is a bit lacklustre imo (again, singles aside). It’s a good album but if she cut 4 or 5 tracks it’d be a great album, if that makes sense lol.

Early impressions so opinions could change of course but..
So far, this is my favorite album of hers since Red.
Favorites: The Man Miss Americana And The Heartbreak Prince Paper Rings You Need To Calm Down I Forgot That You Existed (actually liked this one)
Don’t really care for: Lover The Archer False God
Maybe most Taylor Swift fans would call me crazy for not liking those 3, not sure what the general opinion is on those but keep in mind the slower stuff like those don’t really fit my personal taste at all, so take it for what’s it’s worth from someone who usually doesn’t enjoy those kind of songs anyway.
There’s several ‘eh’ ones in their but I think your gonna get that with most artists when the album length is 18 songs. Not gonna complain about more songs though. Overall, after some time it probably won’t be an album I listen to fully very much. Will likely be multiple skips mixed in, but that’s not as bad as it sounds when there’s so many songs.

What’s odd is last night I could play the whole record on iTunes but not today. And they also dropped all the lyric videos on YouTube which you would think would discourage people from buying it.

I was not expecting this but I like the singles better. The rest of the album is meh. Lover being the best song on the album.
It basically comes down to the pop sound of the album. It just doesn't call to me. It's not like the pop in 1989 that sounded classic. Lover has that modern pop sound that plays on the radio and while shopping at the mall and makes me want to get out of there.
Still she has some songs that I like or I think will grow on me like The Man, Miss Americana & The Heartbreaker (my fav of the new songs), Paper Rings, Soon You'll Be Better, Daylight (2nd fav). Lover, ME! and YNTCD. 8/18 songs.
I also wonder if I don't like this album because I am not feeling the "love" theme. I am still deep into Rep. The sound is also trendy but more in tune with what I like. The lyrics are also more relatable. And the songs sound a little different than the rest while Lover carries mostly the same sound throughout.

I think this album is a grower. It took me 3 full listens to start getting more into some of the songs. Will write out full thoughts later.

The Man should be the next single. It's perfect for radio and perfect for our times.

When I listened to the album through the very first time, I gave each song a rating 1-3. 1 being the highest (what I liked best) and 3 being the lowest (what I liked least) based upon my first impression of the song.
1...Good - Cruel Summer - Lover - Paper Rings - London Boy - You Need To Calm Down - ME!
2...Okay - I forget That You Existed - The Man - I Think He Knows - Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince - Cornelia Street - Death By A Thousand Cuts - Soon You'll Get Better - Daylight
3...Meh - The Archer - False God - Afterglow - It's Nice To Have A Friend
After more listening, I began to like I Forgot You Existed, The Man, and Cornelia Street more than I did the first listen. That brings my #1 counts up to 9. That's half of the album. 9 songs I really enjoy, 5 songs that are good that may grow on me a little more with additional plays, and 4 songs songs that are meh and most likely won't grow on me anymore.

Cruel Summer should be a single, but not until next year. With Lover just being released as a single, there's no summer left for Cruel Summer to be a single this year. Technically it could be released at any time of the year, but it would feel out of place if released in any other season.
