Okay so after first listen last friday I had to say: wow.... so different from Rep (and I love Rep so much).
One question first: What does everyone love about Paper Ring? I think it's one of the weakest tracks (sound wise, not lyric wise, let that be clear!)
My Faves: - Lover (best song on the album) - Cornelia Street - Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince - Afterglow (lyrics are so relatable!) - False God (Love this new sound) - Daylight
I also like: It's Nice To Have a Friend, that sound is really new and dreamy, I like it!
Least Faves: - Paper Ring - I Think He Knows - Me! (sorry, never really liked this one)
It's 18 tracks but still some are really short so time flies while listening. I must say I like Rep and 1989 better then Lover but it's a good album and I enjoy listening to it!

I love Paper Rings personally because itās so upbeat and catchy, itās very ā80s pop/rock, like The Go-Gos and stuff.
My opinion has changed on some of the songs. Theyāve grown on me a lot more and itās hard to choose a least favorite. Even the ones I donāt like as much are still good songs.

Iāve listened to the album today. I usually rate from 1 to 6, so:
- I Forgot That You Existed: 4/6 - Cruel Summer: 5/6 - Lover: 5/6 - The Man: 5/6 - The Archer: 6/6 - I Think He Knows: 5/6 - Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince: 5/6 - Paper Rings: 4/6 - Cornelia Street: 5/6 - Death By A Thousand Cuts: 4/6 - London Boy: 4/6 - Soon Youāll Get Better: 5/6 - False God: 4/6 - You Need To Calm Down: 5/6 - Afterglow: 5/6 - ME!: 5/6 - Itās Nice To Have A Friend: 4/6 - Daylight: 5/6
Overall: 5/6
I like the album even though it has a little too much songs on it. The Archer and Lover are by far my favorite songs. Lover is just a little behind The Archer.

Updated thoughts on the album, now that itās been a week:
I Forgot That You Existed is still a bit forgettable but it is cute and catchy. If Iām in the mood, I play it.
Cruel Summer is amazing and needs to be a single ASAP! I feel like it would be one of her biggest hits yet, maybe the #1 of this era now that Old Town Road is gone.
I Think He Knows and Miss Americana have both grow on me a ton. Miss Americana in particular is just some genius songwriting.
Once you can get past the strange sound of Itās Nice to Have a Friend, I actually think this track is really nice. Itās super short but I like the sound and her voice on it. As a bonus, profits from streaming/sales goes to benefit a childrenās music education group in Canada since they are featured on the song.
I think after listening to everything more, Iād have to say surprisingly my bottom 3 tracks are False God, The Man, and Cornelia Street, if I had to choose. Only because the others are just so good. But honestly none of those bottom 3 are bad at all, theyāre just the ones I never really listen to. False God is good and I like it but it can be a bit boring. The Man is just a heavy topic that I donāt feel like always thinking about. Itās also sort of generic sounding as a pop song, IMO. Itās not super special sounding. Finally, I think Cornelia Street sounds too similar to Delicate and itās kind of boring IMO. I know thatās an unpopular opinion since so many seem to love it. But I love Death by a Thousand Cuts and Afterglow and no one seems to like those, so... I have weird taste I guess.
Top 3 is always changing but currently itās Cruel Summer, Death by a Thousand Cuts, and Afterglow.

My brief and not very deep thoughts -
I forgot that you existed - nice opener after Reputation. Nicely sums up my thoughts about an awful colleague, lol
Cruel summer - fab. Love the lyrics
Lover - didnāt really like this at first but itās LOVELY. Big fan.
The man - fab fab fab. Not really my thing lyrics wise (the big feminist movement isnāt for me - donāt shoot me) but itās so catchy
The archer - great. Lyrics 10/10
I think he knows - I like it when I listen to it but I quickly forget how it goes, so itās ok
Miss americana etc - love. Wasnāt sure at first but one of my faves now
Paper Rings - 10/10 absolute banger up there with Shake It Off
Cornelia street - fantastic
Death by a thousand cuts - a grower. Like it more now but thought it was bland at first
London Boy - another banger
Soon youāll get better - itās ok. I canāt really relate but itās nice
False god - ok. Bit bland
You need to calm down - great
Afterglow - really like it when itās playing but again I keep forgetting how it goes quickly
Me - love but thereās a lot better first single choices on here
Itās nice to have a friend - meh. Not for me.
Daylight - another I keep forgetting once itās finished lol. Itās okay.
Think itās a fab album but it could lose 3 or 4 tracks easily imo. All I know is if her and Joe ever break up weāll be in for one hell of an album (not that id want them too obvs Iām not cruel lol)

Cruel Summer, Paper Rings, The Archer, Lover and Soon Youāll Get Better ALL grew on me. Today I was listening to SYGB and I cried. I cried so much lol. That really hit me out of nowhere.

Her doing London Boy on the BBC is so quintessentially Taylor Swift that Iām amazed she can still do āherā after all these years. Sheās definitely in a much better head space this era.

There, I said it.

Taylor manages to reinvent herself so many times. Holy Ground on piano at BBC š¤. I still prefer the OG but damn that's good music. Archer is warming up to me too.
