I just saw Taylor did a concert called City of Lover. I love her outfit and the black acoustic guitar. I wonder why she did a lot of songs acoustic. I think that's cool like her doing a piano version of Red. If anyone sees a good video please share. I'd love to listen to Red.

The guitar is the same as delicate. I hear it now.

She’s relaxed and sounding very good in Paris. Seems like a legit live performance. No monkey business.

The thing that I love about Taylor’s live performances, especially when she does them acoustic, is that she means every word she sings and she tells the story of the song. She looks focused and like she’s in the moment. Meanwhile a lot of the time Avril either looks bored to be onstage or like she’s going through the motions. And that just doesn’t do it for me or connect with me at all, it makes her look boring to watch.

Also she performed ATW last night. I love that she consistently performs it because she knows the fans love it, despite the fact it was one of the most painful songs she’s ever written. Yet fans have been asking Avril to perform certain songs for years and she never has. It’s up to her what she feels comfortable performing but at the same time if there’s a song fans have been asking to hear for years (HDIF), she should try to make the fans happy.

DBATC is one of my favorites, it’s so underrated I think.
Not to keep dogging on Avril, but I couldn’t help thinking while watching DBATC that Taylor’s lyrics are so much more complex than Avril’s and yet she can sing them perfectly and has them all committed to memory. Maybe Avril should ask her for memory tips lol

I said it many times, memory is not a gift, it should be trained constantly..something that Avril doesn't do. I see Taylor recording without the lyrics, i don't think that Avril does this tbh and this is a start of memorizing your new lyrics.
Even Taylor forgot some lyrics, she confused the 2 pre-chours of Wonderland once during the 1989 tour, but she has a very good memory, so good that she started to sing Our Songs and Wildest Dreams acappella when she had the audio problem on the last tour.. Can Avril do something like that?

It had me thinking that maybe it's a country artist thing? I've noticed a lot of country songs tell a story (TS has continued that in her pop music). I remember in an interview Carrie Underwood spoke about the difference in country music is that it focused a lot on stories.

I remember in an interview Carrie Underwood spoke about the difference in country music is that it focused a lot on stories. Yeah country music has always been rooted in storytelling. Pop music is more universal with lyrics that everyone can relate to, like party lyrics or songs about falling in love or breakups. It’s meant to be more accessible and easier to remember I think. When Taylor went pop, she emphasized how important it is to her to blend the two genres together and still have those storytelling lyrics even though the music is pop and catchy. I like that she has raised the bar for pop music and shown that pop music doesn’t have to mean shitty lyrics. You can have the best of both worlds!

Ok Avril gets major props from me for making it way easier and more convenient to see her in concert than Taylor. Her tickets are always cheap and she comes to my area so I don’t have to travel out of state. You’re pretty much guaranteed a seat because she rarely sells out or at least not immediately. What is this Lover Fest mess they announced? I was considering possibly going to the MA one but after factoring in travel, hotel, tix prices, etc. it’s just not worth it to me for something that isn’t even the official tour. It will likely have other artists playing that I don’t care about. With only 4 US dates, it will be near impossible to even get tix. And I hate that her team is being really unclear about what exactly this event is supposed to be cause these are apparently her only US tour dates for 2020.

At first I thought it was a very cool idea but now I think she is being way too ambitious with these festivals. In the Amazon Prime show Becky G and another girl opened for her and fans were dead af. I stopped watching it because it made me so mad cus Becky G is so talented and cool. Then at the Central Park show I heard they left it full of trash.
But hey at least she will sell them out! And it will be fans that get the tickets.
Edit: wait what it's not the official tour? Ok this is way too ambitious Tay!

I think internationally she is playing at actual festivals, then these Lover Fest ones in the US are festivals that she made up. But I feel like it's probably going to be something like she invites all her musician friends like Troye Sivan, Haley Kiyoko, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Brenden Urie, Todrick Hall, Haley Steinfeld, etc. to perform a short set and then she comes on and performs the way she would at a normal festival. Because the website says "Taylor Swift and Friends." So I don't think it's like a real festival like Coachella or something, but it's probably her own festival she made up where she will invite some of her friends to perform and then she'll headline. Still, only 4 shows in the US and 2 are in the same location. One location on each coast. Lots of fans are pissed they can't afford to travel for it. For me, I could easily travel to it since I live in CT I could make the MA date, but I just don't care about it because of the other artists performing. Also travel expenses, hotel expenses, etc. And because there's only 4 shows, you know getting tickets will be near impossible anyway. And I bet if it's a multiartist/festival thing, the prices are probably absurd.
The website has a disclaimer that these are her only US dates in 2020. More dates will be announced for the UK and internationally, but I think this is it for the US. She probably wanted to do something different this time because the international fans didn't really get to see her the last era, so she wanted to visit some places she hasn't been in a long time. I think if this were the actual Lover Tour, she would have specified. She also said recently she doesn't want her life to feel like album, tour, album, tour, so maybe she decided to try something that doesn't feel like a tour but she is still getting to see the fans and perform for them. Maybe we'll get a Lover Tour in 2021. Or she will likely have started re-recording her old music by then so maybe she will do a special tour in 2021 with all her old music and some of Lover.
