Does anyone have an opinion on why Tay is not doing any press or shows this era compared to all the others?

Because she doesn’t need to. She’s had 5 consecutive successful albums and Reputation broke tons of records despite having very little promo. I think she wants to lay low these days after being in the public eye for a decade. She rarely posts on social media and also has blocked comments on IG. I think she’s tired of being a celebrity and wants to have somewhat of a normal life without the tabloids analyzing her or thousands of people leaving comments calling her a snake.

I think you have valid points Bogo. It seems like she doesn’t have anything to prove anymore. Did y’all see the pic she posted today from Big Sur, CA.? Total chill.

I have a question. How's the label allowing Taylor not to promote or give a damn for her album? I mean isn't she under the label's control? They don't want to promote the album/singles? I bet if she had the promo she had in 1989 era, the album would sell much much more

Under Label Control? Hahaha. She’s Taylor A. Swift! She IS the label. She’s the whole damn Biz. She can do whatever the fuck she wants. Reputation is already a best selling album and she’s already pre sold enough tickets that this tour is predicted to be the BIGGEST TOUR IN HISTORY!!! What in the world does she need to promote??

The fact that she’s still doing better than most artists who promote without promoting at all says it all.

What’s that got to do with anything?

And the single choices are not the best. I like RFI and End Game but imagine if she made better single choices, with a promo. She could have a 1989 level success.

If Taylor’s dad owns part of the label (basically from what I’ve heard about that story is the label probably never even would have been able to get off the ground without his investment and Taylor likely would have never gotten a deal without her dad buying into it either), then Taylor has a little more leeway to do as she pleases since her dad has a stake in the label. A label that he helped get where it is because of his investment.
I haven’t liked the single choices so far either but perhaps she wants to give some more obscure songs a chance since promo is not that important at this point. I could see End Game being chosen because of the features, but the rest have been odd for sure. I think Don’t Blame Me and Getaway Car should definitely both be singles. Everyone’s also wondering which song is going to get the tour video. Taylor Swift had I’m Only Me When I’m With You, Fearless was Fearless, Speak Now was Sparks Fly, Red was Red, and 1989 was New Romantics. I think for Reputation it might be Call It What You Want or New Years Day for the sentimental value. But if they want to go with something more explosive, maybe Don’t Blame Me or King of My Heart. Some predict Dancing with Our Hands Tied.

The story I read is he put up 600K which he considered the equivalent of an Ivy League school education. So he was investing in his daughter as much as the label. It was a small percentage of how much money Scott Borchetta raised from others. Scott told Rolling Stone back in the 2012 that Taylor's dad owns 3% of Big Machine which means 97% came from other investors, including Toby Keith. The Swift's are business and finance people. It's in their blood and they are willing to take chances. And they definitely took on huge risk to support their daughters dream. More power to them. I'm a football fan and all the kids getting signed today have parents that sacrificed a lot to help them compete. But here is the important fact: Lots of aspiring stars have big support networks but only a teeny weeny of one percent "make" it.
Daddy might have helped her on the surfboard but Taylor, much like Avril, rode the damn wave.
I give credit where credit is due. Love her or jealously hate her, Taylor Swift is a Super Star because of Taylor Swift. Same as Avril.

Not at all what I was expecting, but I guess it’s a nice change from the standard music video. Her dancing is also honestly not that bad at all here.
