I just Googled my username here and every post shows up on the open internet to be read by anyone. I thought this was a private group that protects member privacy. What's going on?
Staff Note: Gave the thread a more descriptive title.

That's perfectly normal. Your account is completely secure, and your private messages are indeed private. But we allow guests to read the forum, so it stands to reason that your posts will show up via a Google search.

It's a public forum, so obviously things will show up. Mine did as well, like yours - and like everyone's. Haven't you ever noticed how you can browse the forum without logging in? If you can do that, most likely everything you end up writing will find it's way to Google. No biggie, or is it really?

hookster57, there is no privacy damage here. search engines like google find only what is exposed, thus what is open to the entire web. think of it, what you will see when you come here as a not logged on visitor? will you see posts on this forum? of course, you will, because it's an open forum like most of forums on the web. and it sends to you these open parts of the forum in response to your request to it. search engines do the same, they come up here as bots and look at what is exposed, they download these open pages, and cache the content they think is interesting in their databases. then when you type your request in google, it looks in its database and finds what its bots had been caching into. all "private" things like your pasword, messages etc will not show up there. Most forums work this way. Only some closed communities hide. for some reasons. You may choose who can see your profile in settings. You may forbid to see it by not registered visitors. But there is no way to hide posts because then the forum will get invisible for the world, and for example Avril will be unable to lurk here. Unless she is already registered here. Right, 12345?

Disable signature will only take away the signature under all your post. Like mine -forumrules - birthdays .... About the smilies On your computer, go to the bottom of the thread, click "reply" there it will be a " " on the "menu". Click it and all our smiles will show And an other way is just to type in their code - like : ) = : ranger : = : greenie : = etc.

then you will not be able to see user signatures. About emoji - I have no idea how to post them. I even don't see them only the square with numbers inside instead. It's something specific to idevices, I guess one would need special "font" where these Unicode points would be mapped to the appropriate "emoji" pictures. They are stupid. Even when Avril posted that turtle, I saw this only on screenshots. By the way, the same way (as of this forum) posts from twitter and facebook and Instagram are visible to everybody. Unless it's "private account". Yeah, I guess you're right How 'bout I click on the disable signature box? Oh, and how do I post an emoji when not on my iPhone? Miss read it --------- Yes some androids emojis can't show on apple products vise versa. It just means the other device doesn't have an emoticon equal to it. The same goes for tablets/pads. On computers you have to use the forum smiles. Which will only show as code at the mobile version of BA.

yes, emoji's are stupid font extensions, and they are incompatible between devices. whereas forum smilies are codes translated into actual pictures and can be seen everywhere, unless translation has chosen to not translate their code representation into an image (like you said is the case for the mobile view, by the way why to not show them as pictures for mobile? they are tiny both in the area and byte size).

If we want to make everything on this forum truly private, we would need to hide it under the Tor browser. However that would be impractical for a website like this. As long as you cover your tracks and make sure no one can link your username to your real info you should be fine.
