It's no surprise, then, that in the current issue of high-powered U.S. glossy Blender , the raccoon-eyed pop-punk princess comes off as more combative and ill-mannered than Johnny Rotten on a bad day. Those who've long suspected that Lavigne is somewhat less-than-legit will find ammunition for that argument halfway through the cover story. After claiming "I used to drink like a motherfucker," the pride of Napanee, Ontario, goes on to recount how she ended up with her husband, Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley. According to the story, "They met at the Roxy in 2002, the same night bouncers kicked her from the club–twice–for fighting." As much as it sounds like a great story for the kids, the problem is that it's not exactly true. "She wasn't kicked out at all," Roxy spokeswoman Christine Van told the Straight . "I asked the [bar's] managers if anything of that nature took place. It never happened." Van said that, according to staff, Lavigne only visited the Roxy once, in the early 2000s, whern she spent the night ensconced in a back area of the club. Lavigne is represented by Vancouver's Nettwerk Management. Asked whether Lavigne might have invented the Roxy story, Nettwerk spokesman Rich Adams told the Straight "I think we'd better go with no comment."
