Avril Lavigne was released in 2013 and we are approaching 2017 very fast. This will make a four year gap similar to the one between TBDT and GL. This ones likely due to the fact of Lymes disease and possibly the record label making her go back to the studio (as it's happened the last two times). Question is, how has this gap been for you? Is it worse or better than the last one? Personally for me, it's been a lot better than the last gap since I feel I branched out more musically. Back then Avril was 90% of what I listened to but I've allowed room for a lot more artists.

I think this time it's a little more bearable because we know part of the reason for the delay is that she was ill. With GL we knew she had recorded an album but we weren't hearing any information about when it would be released and we only saw paparazzi pictures of her out clubbing and we weren't getting any information.
On the other hand just because there are 4 years between the albums doesn't actually mean we waited for 4 years. TBDT was released in 2007 and she toured throughout most of 2008. If not for her divorce I think GL would have been released in 2009. By the end of 2010 she wrote a blog post saying when the album would be out.
Similarly, AL was released at the end of 2013. She toured throughout the first half of 2014. Then got sick throughout the rest of 2014 and most of 2015. So I count things like promo and touring as part of it plus she needs time off and unfortunately she has had personal issues get in the way like her divorces and illness that have prevented her from releasing new music sooner.
With some artists the older they get the longer it takes them to release albums. Some could take years between albums, especially if they have been in the industry for a long time. We can't really expect her to release an album like every 2 years or something. I think we have to get used to waiting a long period between albums at this point.
It definitely helps if there are other artists you like in the meantime, for example Ariana Grande and Britney Spears both released solid albums this year that I've been enjoying and there are quite a few artists I like besides Avril that are due to release new music next year.

Being a "hardcore" Evanescence fan, I had to wait from 2006 'til 2011 for their self-titled album. So I'm handling this one pretty well I'm aware that this gap is probably taking a while because of Avril's illness and so she couldn't do much, but to be honest, I hope that this gap had given her time to work on her music and not rush it like it was on AL(just my opinion; the album seemed to be all over the place, non-consistent and didn't stick to a style) and perhaps give the new record some sort of a signature style. I'm also aware of the very short time between LG and UMS and the latter being great, so time didn't have a huge effect there, but I'm still hoping that she used her time wisely during this gap.

For me the wait between TBDT and GL was easier. There was more going on like the tour, Abbey Dawn, Alice. So she was in the sight of the media more IMO. But at least this wait gave me the opportunity and motivation branch out of just listening to Avril and video game sound tracks 24/7. XD So in a way it hasn't been too TOO bad since I've been discovering new music.

I think this one is easier because so far it's really only been 3 years (AL was released at the the end of 2013) and she's had a pretty good excuse being super ill for most of it. We know she has projects coming up in the first half of 2017 too, like Charming, so it's not like we're completely in the dark about things.

on the outside: calm, patiently waiting on the inside: crying, sobbing for me during TBDT and AL was way easier to wait. She was around a lot Alice, paparazzi pic,/videos..now we see her only if she posts something

I'm going to be brutally honest here, the wait is pretty inconsequential to me. I'm honestly not expecting anything great out of Album #6, and it's hard to get impatient over something you're not eagerly anticipating. I'm curious, of course, and I'm keeping an open mind, but the fact is she hasn't released an album I've liked since TBDT. I never even bought GL or AL, and the whole AL era was basically a succession of disappointments and "meh" for me. I do love the RNR video though.
Don't get me wrong, it's fortunate that she's still making music at all, in light of her illness. I don't mean to be overdramatic, but she really could have died, or been left with a life-changing disability. Lyme disease is serious fucking business, especially when there are complications. So even if AL6 is literally the worst thing I've ever heard, I'm going to try to not complain about it.

It's true, I'm expecting another possibility of GL Part 3 where Epic sends her back to the studio and there's delays again. Possibly resulting in songs she doesn't want on there that conflict with her vision again, GF 4.0 for a lead single, etc. I hope that won't be the case and that she will be able to do something she truly wants and maybe go for a different sound this time and that the lead single will be more like indie alternative or something. And I don't know how much we can expect her to be involved with the promotional side of things this time and touring. She's seemed well enough to be flying all over the place but when she has to work and is going to different countries and everything, it could be a different story.

This time was worse for me. Because it was so sad hearing about her illness and divorce. Her interviews about her disease made me cry so many times. and it also makes me kinda sad that she's losing some of her fans because nobody's hearing from her. I always enjoy listening to her old music and I'm not always waiting to hear some new songs. But I do want the world to remember how great she is so come on Avril. make another album like UMS

so come on Avril. make another album like UMS Unfortunately, I doubt that will happen. Although I do wish it did. Even if Avril made a similar sounding record, I don't think it would have the "magic" of UMS. Nonetheless, I would love something that sounds similar.

It depends on the day. Sometimes I'm more calm, sometimes I'm more anxious. I've discovered new artists/bands last years, and old favourites have been releasing music lately, so I've been quite entertained and haven't "need" Avril's music that much. But at the same time, Avril has been an important part of my life (and still is to an extent) and I definitely want to see what she has to offer musically. And especially after hitting her thirties, getting separated/divorced again and struggling with Lyme for a some time. I want her to leave her "MF princess" persona behind at last and give us some grown-up, more mature music.

I don't mind the gap/wait at all. It's not like she was completely silent ever since she got sick. As long as you keep yourself busy with other musicians or something else, it's fine. To be honest, I didn't even feel the wait between TBDT and GL. Back then, I wasn't on the old Bandaids, I would mainly follow avril-l.org and what interested me the most was seeing pictures of her, and there were so many paparazzi and appearances pictures at the time.. to distract me from knowing she had problems with her label and that it got delayed

Honestly, the wait doesn't bother me anymore. I have many other things to keep me occupied (school, Revolution Radio, Battlefield 1) that when Avril finally does release new music it would come as a surprise.
