After about a million times listening to this song, I can say that this is by far my favorite Avril collab. The lyrics are really good. They don't seem cheesy, Avril's vocals sound amazing with the band. And I also love the Japanese lyrics near the end of the song.

I think it's a good song. The hook is weak but it's still kinda catchy. I like the modern rock vibes and I hope she does more stuff like this in the future. 7/10

I bought the US version of Listen the other day and heard it on my iPod today while driving. I still like the song and all but it's very weird without Avril on it. I definitely think having a female voice on it brings it to another level. I heard it too, and yes it is kind of odd without her

The version with Avril is only available on YouTube, Japanese iTunes, and on physical CD in Japan.

Not a question: If those Japanese kids can't speak English then I'm surprised they can sing it. 🤔

I think they can, they might not be confident or fluent enough to do it - one thing is being able to read and understand it, another thing is to speak it (I know this because I'm studying foreign languages at Uni, and I can read and understand the languages I study, but when it comes to speak, it is a complete different story)

Avril couldn't speak any of the foreign languages that she recorded Girlfriend in but she could sing them. Someone probably wrote it out for her phonetically, as Harvey said. Plus she knew what the translation was. I remember she struggled with German because of the harsh sounds and they ended up abandoning a Hindi version because they couldn't get an accurate translation that also fit the meter of the song.

I remember that in the making of TBTT, you could see Avril in the recording booth, and her back up singer was helping her with the pronunciation. I do remember she had struggles with German, because of that harsh sounds, I have problems myself for that too. Besides, I know English is taught in other countries as a foreign language, so again, even if they're not fluent or don't feel confident enough to speak, they can still understand it.

Yeah, but Avril only sang a small phrase whereas One OK Rocks sings the whole song. Guess Harvey is wrong.
