Another year goes by without any new music from Avril, but despite this there has been a lot of great new releases in the past 12 months. Which were your favourite albums released this year? In no particular order, my favourites were: Kindly Now - Keaton Henson Painkillers - Brian Fallon Miss You EP - Gabrielle Aplin After The Rain - Benjamin Francis Leftwich Skeleton Tree - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Blackstar - David Bowie Island Songs - Olafur Arnalds Tell Me It's Real - Seafret Gamble For A Rose - King Charles Fabel - Charity Children Chaleur Humaine - Christine & The Queens

I only purchased 2 albums this year: Dangrous Woman by Ariana Grande and Glory by Britney Spears. I think DW is a phenemonal pop album and Ari's best yet. And Glory is probably Britney's best album since Circus or Blackout. I'm very happy with both of them.

There's only a few I've listened to all the way through and they're all excellent - Blink 182's 'California', Red Hot Chili Peppers 'The Getaway' and Bowling For Soups 'Drunk Dynasty', so it's going to have to be those three!

David Bowie - Blackstar Rachel Platten - Wildfire Sixx:A.M. - Prayers for the Damned, and Prayers for the Blessed (This band NEVER disappoints!) Bon Jovi - This House is Not For Sale
But my most favorite album of 2016 has to be The Holographic Principle by one of my favorite bands, EPICA. This album is amazing and they keep getting better and better. That, and I am a huge physics dork so obviously music inspired by the holographic principle itself will be of interest to me. Here is one of the songs, Edge of the Blade:

I saw them live in Tilburg with the album presentation, and it was really an amazing experience. Undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best release of 2016. Other albums from 2016 that I really liked: Integrity Blues - Jimmy Eat World California - Blink-182 Joanne - Lady Gaga Eye Of The Soundscape - Riverside The Glowing Man - Swans Who You Selling For - The Pretty Reckless Low Counrty - The Sword This is a stripped-down version of their 2015 album High Country, and i'm beginning to like it more than the original from 2015. Sorceress - Opeth Popestar - Ghost Moonbathers - Delain The only bad thing about this album is its cover; i just don't like it. The Astonishing - Dream Theater Afraid Of Heights - Billy Talent Magma - Gojira Feathers And Flesh - Avatar The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Disperser (not joking! ) - Rob Zombie Blues Of Desperation - Joe Bonamassa Revolution Radio - Green Day

It's far from "okay", it's one of the best pop albums I've ever heard.

I know that loads of people (and also the critics iirc) love the album but I only enjoyed 'The One' and 'Higher'. The rest was okay. It's the same with Green Day's and Volbeat's album - I love 2-3 songs and the rest is okay. You should be glad that Emotion Side B made the list though I considered taking it off for a while tbh.

It's not a matter of taste, it is listening and taking note of what is good and bad, you know... Like, you have to separate what you like and what you don't from what is really good and what is really bad. I didn't put it in my list cause it wasn't one of my favourites of the year, but it was indeed one of the best ones released in 2016. "Cry" for me is the one that stood out the most, it's so powerful. Just "Store" that disappointed me, it lacks in quality compared to the others... If you asked me, I'd say that "Side B" it's even better than E.MO.TION Revolution Radio is good, and I didn't listened to the Volbeat album, gonna check it out. What song do you think I should begin with?

I didn't like so much of this years music, but Mad Love/ by JoJo and Emotion: Side B by Carly Rae Jepsen were both amazing and I've had them on repeat

What song do you think I should begin with? Okay I think you misunderstood my post. I didn't mean the best albums quality-wise, I meant (like you) my favorite albums this year - the albums I've enjoyed the most. "Cry" is powerful I guess, but it's also a bit boring imo. I agree that "Store" is the weakest one. The Volbeat album: You should begin with "For Evigt"! It's my favorite on the album and not because I'm a dane (the chorus is in danish ). It's really catchy and feels atmospheric. They also made the song with an english chorus, it's called "The Bliss" - though it's not as good imo. You should listen to "Let It Burn" and "The Gates Of Babylon" as well. "Mary Jane Kelly" is good too. "The Devil's Bleeding Crown" did well on charts (it went nr. 1 on billboard's rock chart iirc), and I know that "Black Rose" and "Seal The Deal" are very popular too - these three songs are fine imo, maybe you'll like them? There is a lot of good guitar-work all over the album, and the singer is doing a great job aswell imo.
