Trump, Women's March, LGBTQ, Muslimban, racism, etc - no thanks. But let me tweet about Superbowl....
*sorry. I will never get over this non-political attitude from her

Gaga was very good. I loved her singing the patriotic songs in the beginning. I'm surprised Avril is watching the Super Bowl to be honest. But she has always liked sports so I guess it kind of makes sense. I think Avril is probably better off not tweeting about political stuff right now. Some celebrities aren't afraid to voice their opinions about it, but a lot of celebs also prefer to stay out of it and not make their views known one way or the other. I'm sure she has an opinion on what's happening in US politics right now but I don't think she feels comfortable sharing it publicly and that's ok. It's just Twitter. I know I said before that she should use her voice more to talk about important stuff when she made a big stink about the Nickelback thing, but I think we have to accept at this point she isn't the type to talk about politics in public. In the Let Go era she was pretty vocal about her stance on Bush and I'm sure she got at least some backlash because of it. There's no real need for her to talk about her views on Twitter unless she's asked in an interview or something. No offense to Avril, but why exactly would anyone care what she thinks about stuff like the women's march, Muslim ban, etc.? She's a singer, not a politician. Now using her platform to raise awareness for Lyme disease or something like that, would make more sense and is something she should try to do more of.

Yup, it's best that Avril doesn't go into politics or a good portion of her fans might start to hate her Though I wouldn't mind if she decided to go all Green Day (2:12)

Everyone has the right to speak up and talk about politics, no matter if you are a singer or a teacher or whatever. You don't need to be a politician to support equality and fundamental rights. I'm not expecting her to hold a speech on a protest, but as a woman with power and a lot of people listening to her, I expect her to support certain things, for example the women's march. There is a difference between going all hillary Clinton like Katy Perry did and being a full activist or doing the least you can do by spreading the word about equality/racism/etc. And if she says she supports the women protesting against sexism or supports LGBTQ-marches, what fans would she lose? She doesn't need sexist fans anyway. Especially when she tells Mark Zuckerberg to stop 'bullying' her ex-husband and tells him to use his voice and power for better things. While she remains silent on anything that has nothing to do with her or is promoted by her foundation. Sorry, off topic I know. Just wanted to share my opinion. We can go back to social media topic now

I think at the core of it, it has nothing to do with losing fans. I think Avril just really REALLY cares about us to the point of not wanting to upset anyone reguardless of political stance. Not everything is as black and white as it may seem.
Also, the thing with Facebook wasn't a political thing. It was her defending her friend and ex husband. Just like how she still supports and is there for Derek when she needs to be.

As long as speaking about politics as a high profile person, public would only think you get paid or having any ambition of taking advantages. Just no way is good. And please don't, her image is bad enough already

I disagree. I think there are many ways to stand up and get a bit political. It would be nice, for example, if she showed support to the womans march. Thats political and she wouldnt risk anything. Besides, her image in the 00s speaks a lot to feminism but she never really made it into her speech and now it would be a good time. Also she's canadian and thats a start for a diversity speech.
But I get her, she`s quiet and reserved about everything, why would she speak out loud about politics and human rights...

Well she could have dm'ed Zuckerberg or just be upset about his 'bullying' in private, but she chose to use her public platform to criticise him, accuse him of bullying and even tagging all these anti-bullying-organisations to get support. She told him to use his power to support the good - but she only ever speaks up when it's about her/her friends/her foundation. I would say that's hypocritical.
And I agree, in her early career she was known for having her own mind and she never gets tired of explaining how badass she is, how she speaks what's on her mind etc - yet she fails to support a large amount of her fans, probably the majority if you take women/muslims/LGBTQ, in their daily struggles.
My personal opinion is that in times like this (with a very problematic US-president, terrorism all over the world, rising national forces in Europe etc.), it is your responsibility to help to maintain freedom and equality for everyone. The world is messed up and she has a powerful voice I would like to hear speaking up about other topics than just 'look at my abbey dawn shirt'.
And if she is a supporter of Trump or if she doesn't care about anything outside her fancy Superstar-world (doubt it though), then I would like to know as well - because that means I'm done with her.

Sometimes I wished she was more vocal about it, but now in the time when everybody is trying to be vocal and loud about current situation in America is actually really refreshing that someone is quiet on political views, half of those celebrities who speaks out have no common sense anyway. She was always very publicly supporting disabled children, but I guess that was never "modern"l to talk about like Trump ect. so doesn't count I guess, on friday when muslimban was happening she put on her main IG two muslim fans wearing AD it wasn't concoinsidance in my opinion. Women's March/feminism, on paper is a good idea but in reality is everything else and not standing for what it should. They are supporting muslim, but when previsu president were killing muslim all this years everybody was quiet as fuck. Our sneakers are made by children who are paid a slice of bread a day, our phones are made by people who are closed in factory all day for few cents, and why is nobody talking about this? Because is not happening in Europe or USA. All this celebrities crying on social media about election is giving more anxiety and fear to people, instead someone should tell them people that sometime you are put in situation which you are not happy about, but still need to push through it. People are going against each other, divided, but Trump and Hillary are having drinks somewhere behind the closed doors and watching the live show of peoples fear and nonsense that's what is giving them power.
Thanks God she is quiet on the current situation, for me she came across smarter than all the celebrities who are tweeting about it.

I agree with Sliperslip. There are countless problems in the world (Trump, Muslim ban, Women Rights, LGTBQ, Isis, Nationalist movements, and so many others like kids in Africa with no education, or little girls becoming braids in too many countries in Africa and parts of Asia, in some areas of the world the is very little potable water... just to name a few), there are too many problems unfortunately. There are many celebrities who are saying their opinion, and that's fine. But silence is also good, I prefer it. We live in a time where everybody tries to speak his/her mind, and in those situations, words can lose their weight, it gets easier to point the finger and keep screaming without listening what the other is telling us. I appreciate her silence, which doesn't mean she has no opinion, because she's not entitled to tell the world her opinion. I really appreciate her foundation and her being involved in helping kids with serious disabilities. When I was a kid, I was often in the hospital for weeks, and I've never had musicians or activities to cheer me up, it was hard sometimes. I really appreciate that she's been involved in those things. It is little and not political, but it can still make a difference in those people's lives. Besides, she helps people through her music, and she can send messages without directly addressing this or that with music as well.

She already sort of did on her Snapchat when she blocked out Trump and only showed Hillary's electoral votes. But no, I don't think she should. It is career suicide. Pick a cause to fight for, not a political party. Her fighting Lyme and raising awareness on that for example is much better than being a lunatic and showing up wearing a vagina hat.

Well, i follow Avril for her musical qualities, not for her political taste / opinion / whatever. I don't really care about politics that much anyway, but i like the fact that Avril is mostly occupied with the things she's the best at, and that is music. I don't mind that she does sideprojects like the foundation, but they should stay exactly like they're named; SIDEprojects.

"should Avril voice her political views?"
No. She's a singer not a politician. If she did state her opinion about "election" kind of politics, half of her fanbase might have crippled. Some people taking too much serious about political views of their faves, that would push them away from their faves.
She should raise voice for what she's been through, like lyme.
Also she can tweet her views about the war in mid-east - Syria, without touching anything political.
