I became a fan during the TBDT era, after Girlfriend was released. I think she was/is the first artist I ever really cared about. Incredible to think it's already been 10 years...

Since Complicated. My brother told me to listen to it and being 11 I had to disagree with anything my brother said so told him it was rubbish - loved it really

I liked the complicated video, cause it was funny - I loved the sk8er boi video, cause Avril was the coolest girl I have ever seen - so I would say I started being a fan because of her look in 2002. But I didnt care that much about her music, I liked Losing Grip, Sk8er Boi and some more songs - but UMS was the album that really got me into her music.

A causal listener from 2006. My sister owned UMS and later TBDT. So that meant i had no choice but to listen to her Officially 2008. Then i became a fan. I remember we had a cartoon inspired school paper. And me and my friend chose Lilo and Stitch. Then we came past this video with this lovely song

I first heard her back in 2007 because of Girlfriend and When You're Gone, but I remember Girlfriend was in a game I used to play and I'd listen to it all the time back in like 2010, but I didn't properly hear her until 2011, and What The Hell was my theme song all the way through primary school haha. Remember clearly listening to Here's To Never Growing Up on holiday back in 2013, but I only first listened to any of her older stuff when Sk8er Boi was on a 2000s throwback playlist about a year ago, and I found my Goodbye Lullaby CD and eventually bought all her albums over the past year or so

for me July 2015. from 2006 till the end of 2014 would not even be a causal fan before 2006 i heard her on the radio a little. i have alway's been country, rock, instrumental, classical,Audience Taping music fan. i have audience taped since i was 13 or 14 years old and april wine was the first time a took a portable tape recorder it was my own as i worked for people on farms running tractor. the cassette tape was awful sounding as it could not handle the loud music but i kept trying to tape anyway and tape still in 2017. anyway one taper/sharer i met said your from Canada try this audience gig of Avril Lavigne from 2004 and so i tried it and liked Freak Out and Don't Tell Me and listened to it few times and decided to see about her albums and found the japan imports had live tracks so i started importing the one with extra tracks and now have imported all 5 albums, the only DVD i don't have yet is My World will be getting that this year then at same time started importing some singles and promo samplers. now i have most of 2004/2005 tour audience taping's and some 2002 audience taping's and the last tour audience taping's. i don't look on youtube that much.

Since 2002 when I first heard Comlicated and saw the video. Back then I was listening to Linkin Park, Metallica and some charts, but I knew immediately that she was special. And it's the same now. I really like many artists/bands, but Avril is in another league.

I became a fan in 2004 or 2005 (as far as I can remember). I loved MHE. I think it was the first song I've heard. I remember that my mom searched everyday for a new song and I was so happy when she found a new song.

I remember like if it was yesterday. Back to 2002. It was the very end of the summer holidays. In France where I live, it was from 1st July to 10th september (school holidays). At this era, I was a skater. I was with my friend, and we were in his room searching new stuff on internet about skateboarding. On Kazaa (download platform in P2P), we were searching videos about skateboard (Tony hawk etc...) In the search field, with "skater" keyword, Avril Lavigne - Sk8er Boi appeared. We are french, so Avril and Lavigne sound very french, we were thinking, cool probably a french skater who made a video, let's see his tricks. We had absolutely not a clue it was music. We thought it was a nickname for a french skater. The download took a while, in 2002 in France, the bandwidth was not great yet Finally we played the video (.mpeg 352x240) We saw the spraypaint... the guy who sticks posters... and finally, Avril jumps into the armchair and starts to sing... I have to say, it was my first and only "love at first sight" in my whole life. Everything was perfect: her hair, her smile, her eyes, her style, her tatoos, her voice, her vibes... Since this day, she is my secret love and will be until my very last breath.

It was 2004, but I knew nothing about eras and how many albums she had. Though I preferred her let go style and songs more before I'd discovered what era it was
