Idk if this is unpopular or not but I think she began the UMS era with the left hand, Don't Tell Me is a good song but it didnt deserved to be a single, especially the lead single. It's her weakest lead, MHE was a better choice and could have been her first #1 single, considering it peaked at #9 as a 2nd single which did better, she even said during an interview that she had MHE ready to be the lead but her record label pushed DTM. UMS era could have been even bigger but well...

I always thought the same, however I think DTM was kind of a good warmup single for the UMS era. It gave a taste of what the album would be like but it wasn’t too heavy. She needed to retain the fans she gained with LG, which had a lighter sound. MHE would have made a statement but it might have turned some people off with how different it was from LG. Like too much too soon. That was kind of what happened with GF, she led off the album with a super different sounding song than fans were used to and it scared a lot of them off.

For a long time I thought DTM was a promo single and MHE the lead.

Here are some unpopular opinions I have
1.Head Above Water is her best album 2.Under My Skin is her worst album...although it is still a good album 3.Avril is a very good singer 4.I don't think she was really so tomboyish as she portrayed herself as...I think she saw a market for a tomboy female singer and took advantage of it 5.I think her being the opening act for the Backstreet Boys in 2014 was an embarrassment and I think that she should not have done it and she really disrespected herself by doing it 6.I do think her singing voice now is the best it has ever been 7.I am happy that her albums have not had many collaborations with other artists on them...most artists today have way too many collaborations and I am glad that she doesn't do that

^ #4 I agree with. And it's probably why LG content, sans performances, is my least favorite era. I think UMS was her most real era where she just was herself in both appearance and music.

Even though I own the CD, Let Go is overrated imo, is my least favourite album from her, the tracks besides Unwanted and the singles are boring, lyrically may be good but other than that I just don't enjoy to listen to the other tracks rather than the ones mentioned above. *runs and hides in the woods for the rest of his life*

For me Let Go and Avril Lavigne are equally. Both have highs but also many lows.

I just want to clarify I have nothing against the album. Because I like every song on it except one. I just was never got into the era in general like interviews, her fashion, her attitude. There were many instances where it looked like she was trying too hard to be cool. I much prefer UMS where she seemed more real.

UMS is probably the record that has the songs I dislike the most or never hear. I just don’t like these type of songs.
LG: 0 UMS: forgotten, take me away, who knows, freak out, together TBDT: OOTG, EBBY GL: Black Star AL: SOS and HK HAW: Bigger Wow, Warrior, Love Me Insane
