I liked it. Chapter 40. But the chapters are short. The book is interesting where i read.
The 41 is called "Night Guard".

I've already read it. I got lost a little in the middle but picked the plot back up again soon enough. I did enjoy it. It's not an easy sequel to write but I think the author does a pretty good job. I've already got stuck into 2061 A Space Odyssey..... I'll read anything. Quite enjoying this one too. I like the short chapters because they fit perfectly into my coffee break.

Sorry about my slowness with this one guys. Life has been seriously getting in the way of my reading time lately but I'm 3/4 of the way through so I'll be done soon. I'm enjoying it so far, it's a decent sequel. I like the storyline and I think it does 2001 justice, however it doesn't grip me in the same way that 2001 did. That might change by the time I finish it though.

So, I finally finished Odyssey Two 😃 Overall, I enjoyed it. I thought it was a decent sequel, I liked the storyline and overall it's pretty good fun. I liked that HAL was back and that we got to find out what happened to Bowman. While it's a space oriented novel, I liked the human touches added with Bowman's storyline. However, I wasn't as gripped by this one as 2001. I don't know what it is. I liked the gradual build up of dread in 2001, and I didn't think that this one had that in the same capacity. I still think it was good though, it's some well-written sci-fi with more emphasis on the sci-fi than the characterisation but that's not a bad thing - it doesn't feel particularly lacking. & I must admit, this made me laugh ... “How did one annoy a two-kilometre-long black rectangular slab? And just what form would its disapproval take?”

Yeah, bit of a shock Jupiter turning into a sun at the end. Also the Tsien Chinese ship being destroyed when it landed on that moon of Jupiter by some plant type alien was a bit far fetched but I still liked it. Oh well, just some thoughts...

Yeah, I would never have guessed the ending. It left so many unanswered questions though. Hopefully some of those are answered in 2061. Haha yeah I thought the same about the Chinese ship. I had to re-read the couple of chapters surrounding their ship being destroyed. It sort of happened all of a sudden I was a bit like "wait ... did I miss something"
