I listened to LG yesterday and to UMS today, and I gotta say I am so glad Avril's voice improved. If LG has one giant flaw, it's her voice. It sounds so weak almost throughout. Still okay for a 17-year-old on her very first record, but she just sounds so much better on UMS and got even better through the years. I'm really happy she developed such a strong voice. When I listen to music, a good strong voice with a big recognition value (she's always had the recognition value, though) is one of the most important things to me.

See I actually like how her voice sounds on LG. I don’t think it sounds weak at all. I’m pretty sure they did a lot of tweaking to it in the studio also, because she never sounded that good live. But I agree at least as far as live performances go, her live voice got way better in UMS era. I do love how her voice sounds on the LG album though.

Big interview with Rotem. He might have said something Avril related but I'm not watching 45 minutes of him just to hear a sentence about her. If any of you is interested, the link is below.

I’m watching (I skipped a few seconds here and there when I was sure her name wouldn’t come up) but I’m mostly listening while I do other stuff, 33 minutes and no Avril till now. But it’s kinda interesting so hear more how he is as a person and also his work

At 35 minutes he says something about drums and mentions Avril’s album, the guy asks stuff and he replies with names like “strings?” And he gives a name of someone he likes. So he’s asked “live drums” and he says something like “overdub.. cause that’s the way I’m making music, usually I use addictive drums for live sounding drums and then some of this other stuff like Avril’s record I’m making now it’s like ok we’re gonna replace this. So it’s usually never part of the inicial process, it’s always overdubbing”
He says samples are his thing, let’s see if Avril will have any sample

So it’s usually never part of the inicial process, it’s always overdubbing” He says samples are his thing, let’s see if Avril will have any sample Samples and "beats" are his thing, but he also mentions how he started as a classic pianist, transitioned to jazz and then to hip-hop beats. He also says he's been doing more "rock" stuff lately (Fall Out Boy or Weezer) and also talks about his artist/protege Marteen (the other account he follows on IG). He says he's usually is very "OCD" when it comes to work, but he also adapts to the artist/genre he's working with at the time. About the topic he mentioned Avril on, "overdubbing" is probably something used by a lot of producers nowadays. We know they have recorded live and real instruments with Kenny (drums), Zane (guitars) and Dan Ellis (also guitars), so I'm guessing there won't be many "beats" or "samples". It was a very interesting interview, and you can see how his new forearm tattoo is

It could end up being a combination of real and programmed instruments. Kind of like Taylor's new album, definitely not as electronic as hers is, but Taylor used a lot of combination of real instruments with programmed beats. I think it can sound good when done correctly.

Exactly. I used to hate synths and drum machines, but then I started listening to PVRIS and realized that if you use synths and drum machines correctly it can indeed sound really good. Those synths on "Hello Heartache" are actually kinda cool, too. And I wouldn't be disinclined to Avril using drum machines again on AL6, as long as they're not totally misused the way they were on GL and AL.

I don't know if this is new, but I just wanted to watch the music video for "Complicated" but had to realize that it's not available on Vevo anymore, neither on Avril's Vevo channel on YouTube, nor on Vevo.com. On YouTube, the video is not listed at all. On Vevo.com it says "We don't have permission to stream this video in your location. Please choose another video from our massive library." What is this about, does anyone know??
