It is just a rumor, nothing confirmed, these are the genres on her most experimental material yet. HAW seems to be the only one where you can see the old Avril in it and somehow Bigger Wow 1. Head Above Water (3:40) POP ROCK BALLAD 2. Birdie (3:30) R&B 3. I Fell in Love With the Devil (4:17) SYNTHPOP 4. Tell Me It’s Over (3:09) SOUL 5. Dumb Blonde (3:09) ELECTROPOP 6. It Was In Me (3:43) GOSPEL 7. Souvenir (2:58) SOFTPOP 8. Crush (3:34) BLUES/JAZZ 9. Goddess (3:42) R&B/POP 10. Bigger Wow (2:57) INDIE ROCK 11. Love Me Insane (3:00) COUNTRY-POP 12. Warrior (3:48) ACOUSTIC POP IF THIS IS TRUE I AM PREDICTING A LOT OF MELTDOWNS OF MANY FANS. Thank me later. I really hope this is fake. She mentioned Dumb Blonde when someone asked for a rock song. But with Avril, we never know. I can't add an image from the phone, but there's a tweet about it. Also, she said "midtempo". So, I don't know.

She said Dumb Blonde is the most upbeat song of the album. I don’t think that Dumb Blonde has that loud guitars being Bonnie McKee involved on it. I do think that Bigger Wow is the rock song and that list “confirms” it.

It’s possible some industry insiders have already heard at least some tracks if not the full album. She probably played a few songs when she was interviewed by Billboard. So I wouldn’t totally disregard this. However, if this is true, it sounds a bit like AL again, being “all over the place.” I hope it will sound like a cohesive body of work. I really thought Birdie would be more jazz, not R&B. And Crush makes sense being blues/soul because of Zane.
Going back to the sales, well AL sold about 42,000 copies in its first week I believe, so 70,000 is a long shot. Apparently HAW is the most pre-ordered album on iTunes so who knows, maybe she can do it, I’m just saying realistically based on how her past albums have performed, getting a #1 seems like a long shot. I think she could get the #1 album on iTunes, especially on the pop charts. On Billboard is another story.
Edit: Sorry AL sold 44,000 copies in its first week.

Honestly, I think this info is just a supposition based on what she’s said/what we know about the album.
IMO, It Was In Me is “rumored” to be Gospel only because she said it was about connecting with God. Dumb Blonde is being catalogued as electropop only because Bonnie is featured as a writer (even though the leaked article spoke about it as being an anthem with a nod to her early music, and Avril said it was an upbeat song as response to the fan asking for a faster, rocker song), and it goes on like that.
It’s as if half of AL had been catalogued as hard rock based off her work with Chad and David, even though we know they made all kinds of music styles. So, I would disregard this info, since first and foremost, there is no source, and second, we are still way ahead of the album release to be talking about the sound of the songs (unless it’s about to leak)

If she hadn't met Rotem she would have already released her album. the time with this guy was a waste of time IMO. she probably postponed the album release to sort out his songs and write new ones.

I would cry if this album is "all over the place" again. I think the main problem with the "all over the place" in AL5 was the lyrical content of the album. You can release an album sonically diverse but you need to make a connection between those songs. That album contained Rock N Roll, HTNGU, Bitchin' Summer, Sippin' On Sunshine on one side and then mature songs like LMG, GYWYL, Falling Fast and Hush Hush on the other. Head Above Water could end being all over the place, in this case, if the lyrics are mature enough and they fit each other I won't have any problem with that. 1989 or Beautiful Trauma are great albums for me and I think they are all over the place as well, sonically speaking.

This is the most cohesive album she’s ever has with one singular message, colors, etc. I trust her, and I love Avril and what she says so it doesn’t matter what genre. I’m just stoked to hear her again.

An album can be diverse without sounding like the songs belong on different albums. For example, Let Go. AL was just a bit "too" diverse, I mean it went from Marilyn Manson to EDM. Just... There has to be a feeling of cohesiveness. I haven't heard Beautiful Trauma but I would not say that 1989 is "all over the place" at all. There's a mixture in tempo but the songs sound like they belong on the same album. In fact, that was precisely why Taylor made 1989 the way she did and made sure it sounded cohesive because she felt the reason Red lost the Grammy for AOTY was because it was too diverse. 1989 had certain elements across all the songs that tied them all together. The production style was similar. IMO that was AL's biggest issue was that the production style was all over the place. Some songs had this Disney pop sound that was overly plastic sounding, while there were also these raw ballads on the other half. That was never going to work and somehow still sound cohesive at all.
