I've actually never understood the opening lines in My Happy Ending: "Let's talk this over It's not like we're dead Was it something I did? Was it something you said?" If they are having a problem/fight in their relationship, Avril would obviously know if it was due to something the guy said. So what exactly is she trying to get at here? Perhaps it's someone trying to avoid taking things out- hence the line "it's not like we're dead"

I've never understood what the second half of the lyrics to How Does It Feel have to do with the first. First she sings about feeling isolated from others or whatever and then she sings: "Would you comfort me?/Would you cry with me?" which to me sounds like her asking a guy whether he will commit to their relationship and whether he will love her and take care of her.

I always understood it like she is asking the "normal" people if they would still be there for her, even when she seems different from them. If they would still cry with her because she is as human as anyone else

If they are having a problem/fight in their relationship, Avril would obviously know if it was due to something the guy said. So what exactly is she trying to get at here? I think that at that point, Avril just wants to understand why they came to this; you know, when you ask yourself what else you could have done, what could have happened in another way, etc. The next lines "Don't leave me hanging..." seem to point that way. She just wants to know why they are breaking up if she was so committed to the relationship (you were everything...and so on)

This has reminded me how much I hate the use of "dead" twice in the first few lines of MHE

I have never really understood the meaning of Fall To Pieces... It's great to read all your interpretations because none of them is like mine-and it's always great to see things from another point of view. I think that it's about knowing that a relationship is worth the tough times. Like, Avril and her lover have an argument and by when it's over, both of them realize that they're risking their relationship and that they said some things they shouldn't out of anger. She knows she loves him too much to break up and that it's something she'll regret later, so she tries to make up with him. She just wants to know everything is alright again and be able to have some relief by crying; she doesn't even want to talk about what started the argument because now she realizes that it's not taking them anywhere and it's not that important.
