I got the Google Chrome as portable version, the problems with Waterfox kept annoying me If I ever had a good reason to use Chrome on my machine, I too would run a portable version from a USB drive. That way I wouldn't have Google's spyware on my hard drive. Before I did that though, I would most likely use Chromium. Chrome is based on that anyway. The last time I installed chrome on any machine, it took up more than six times as much hard drive space as any other browser. I have to wonder what all that extra code does.

I once installed Chrome on my former notebook... getting rid of it was damn hard - it re-installed itself all the time. So, if I understand you right Chromium isn't a big spy?

Lately, I've been using Waterfox too and I really like it. It's very fast. Much faster than Chrome and Firefox and I prefer it to the other browsers I have used in the past.

I am using Pale Moon browser. It's kind of a special build of Firefox after some tuning, by some Dutch dude. It's less hungry on resources so I am using it. Because todays browsers are the horror. From the efficiency point of view. all modern web is a monster with that, 5 years ago the same Firefox ate up ~100MB of RAM, now it wants 500MB and more and I don't see any chages on resources I visited 5 years ago and now. Some "functionality" is only seen by the fact the browser consumes resources for it. well this ranting is boring, so just Pale Moon browser!

I've been testing Mozilla's new 64 bit version of Firefox against Edge, Waterfox and Opera. Finally it's just as fast. I can't really tell the difference in speed between any of them anymore. Edge still uses the fewest resources. Firefox and Opera use slightly more. Waterfox uses the most. But, not really a lot more than the others. If you install the new version, you will still have the old version on your machine. You can then go to Programs and Features to delete the x86 version. The new one will have the x64 designation.

I'm a long time Chrome user but I just decided to try out Firefox Quantum cause I heard it is very well optimized for multi-core CPUs.
