Hello fellow Avril fans!... With Avril back on the scene it’s had me thinking if Bandaids was still around, but it turns out (after some research) that it is nothing compared to it’s former glory; which makes me sad to be honest but hey I guess we all grow up and I get why Sharifa lost the passion for it.
Anyway the reason I open this thread... is there anyone on here now from back on the day? The Best Damn Thing era was when I spent most my time on the site, with the likes of Hunter, Adam, Louis, Sinead... can’t remember many other names off the top of my head sorry!... hopefully some of you are out there that I will remember anyway!
Chris

Hi Sadly Bandaids isn't what it was, but plently of us are still here; it's just a much smaller community than what it was due to a forum upgrade gone wrong. The site had a virus beforehand (but it was still relatively safe to browse with a good AV) so the solution was to upgrade the forum, so the slate was wiped clean, so to speak. When that happened, me and a fellow Bandaids Staff member, Marliz created this forum in March 2015 to tide people over until the upgrade was complete, when we finally got the word it was no longer happening this was converted into the offical forum. You can find more information about why the original site closed here: avrilbandaids.boards.net/thread/538/future-bandaidsIt's now run by me and my fellow staff - some of us are ex-ba.com staff members (such as myself) whilst others are the new generation of Bandaiders

I have some great menories from that era; i was a moderator back then and helped Sharifa redesign the site at one stage, along with desgining the sister forums for taylor swift bandaids and a couple of the others. Such a shame that it’s all gone now, but technology has moved on now anyway. I really hope we can revive the atmosphere that we used to have 10 years ago with this upcoming album. From the first single I already feel Avril is on her way to a winner!

It is really sad, but we still all have our memories of what the site once was - and it really was a great experience with a huge community. I was still in school when BA was up and I'd log in everyday without fail to see if I got any visitor messages or any other notification
The site was very busy when HAW was released, and we hope the same for when the Album comes out. We do plan to eventually also overhaul the site visually and in terms of design but I think that's a little far off yet.

Wish I was able to offer to help you guys build a new site, but my web design and graphic design knowledge is outdated by like 5 years now haha. Hindered also by my lack of a PC these days too! How times change... Cannot wait for a new album though and even better a tour too! Wonder who else is on here from the old days🧐😀

That description quite suits it to be honest! It was such a big community, with so many different friendship groups within it. What made it special is Avril fully acknowledged the site, even had an account herself and very occasionally would check up on the site. Those days were superb, it’s a shame we all have to grow up and move on with our lives, Avril included unfortunately.

I joined bandaids in May 2008. I was also a member and admin on Avril's official forum. It was very active back in those days also. Forums in general took a major dive in popularity. I believe it was because of the increased use of social media. That seems to be part of the natural progression of things. Before forums, as most people here know them, we had text based bulletin boards. I belonged to a couple of those. I doubt anyone else here remembers them. Before that, we had Citizens Band and ham radios. And, of course, the telephone.

I was on the old BA in 2009, between TBDT and GL. Ahhh the memories lol
The new site doesn’t have as many active members as the old site but I’m just glad we still have a forum in some capacity to still chat about Avril. Especially when she went through her period of illness and went silent on social media, I was desperate to find out any info on what was going on and this happened to occur at the same time as the BA blackout. Then I found this new site and shortly after Avril revealed she had been sick. The sense of commmunity is what has always made BA “Bandaids” no matter what platform it’s on. In fact, it initially started back in 2003 as a Yahoo group lol

Ahh yes, growing up from visiting the foolish forums, we've got more serious business to do, like sharing pictures of dogs and political convictions on facebook. I joined bandaids in May 2008. I heard about the bulletin boards, but as a typical Balkanic caveman, I got my first computer in the year 2000, and a dial-up a year after, so not much opportunities to use the technology of the ancient cyberpioneers like yourself Speaking of the forums as a concept, how come y'all didn't flip yourselves onto a larger social media platform, like reddit? Sure, the format is a bit different, but not that different altogether?

I am afraid all of that information is heavily classified; known possession of said information normally ends up with people going missing - permanently And it’s funny you mention reddit - when I was looking at platform options for this site we did consider reddit a little bit, but we decided we wanted to be similar to the old site and the “forum experience” as possible - didn’t want to alienate people
