A few questions about the beginning of Let Go era

All I know is that I think this was her first live TV performance: I don't know the exact date though, it just says June 2002.

As far as the beginning of 2002, I don't think LG was even completed until March. So only a couple months after that the first single came out. In April she recorded an AOL Sessions:

In this old interview Avril talks a bit about her promo tour with Evan. The video says that it's from April 17 but it seems weird to me. Isn't it too early?

Yeah it would be interesting to know what was going on from like January 2002 till Let Go came out! I don't know much about that period.

I just remember that she blew up incredibly quickly - like it was a phenomenon. Within a week of Complicated airing on MTV, she was on every radio station - you could not go out without hearing the song at the supermarket or the gas station (this is in Australia btw).

A radio station in Sydney ran a competition to meet her in July 2002. They cancelled it after a few days, & I emailed them to ask why. Apparently she'd been booked to do a promo tour in Oz, but then her people cancelled it - I'm guessing because she was suddenly doing so well that they wanted to focus on the bigger markets (USA & Europe).

By the time the Skater Boi vid came out she was verging on household name status - like Taylor or Katy today. TRL had a lot to do with it - that show was massive and broadcast in heaps of countries.

Interesting thread! I'd love to get more info on the 6 mths preceding the release of Let Go. Personally I think Terry McBride from Nettwerk (her first manager and the guy who signed her) is a genius, and I'd love to know exactly what he did in the lead up to the launch of Avril's debut.
