Jakkyboi Stuns as a Vocalist with “Avril Lavigne”
BENJAMIN YUAPRIL 27, 2018
Not much is known of mysterious producer/singer/song writer Jakkyboi. He is often shown in the producer credits of artists such as Convolk, hm.wav, poe leeche, and more. Although he has shown great promise from his beats, his vocal ability was unknown until the release of his song, “Avril Lavigne”. Even despite his relatively low profile prior to the release of it, it has received a warm reception with over 5000 listens and scored reposts from established talents such as guardin.
Immediately upon hearing the beat, the listener is thrown in a time machine to 2003.The song begins with a warm pop punk guitar riff reminiscent of blink 182 and Avril Lavigne in the early 2000s. With cutely placed, harmonious chimes in the back and the heavy bass drum, the beat flows together with the lyrics very fittingly. His ability to flow over a beat in such a nonchalant manner while still singing beautifully speaks to his musical potential. He sings along the track effortlessly and throws us back to a time when we were kids.
His lyricism:
“i think i need a second can u wait ya
don’t mean to make it complicated now
i don’t think u understand
ya i been making plans
oh life be moving fast but i been makin moves so”
Fit exactly the vibe the beat gives off and prove he can make a hit. Although this is only his first track, his production and musical ability show a bright future.

Live from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is Jakky Boi. Jakky is heavily influenced by early 2000s pop punk, as evident by his idolization of Avril Lavigne. His music utilizes intricate electric guitar leads and fast tempo trap drums in order to give off the same angst and attitude that made pop punk so enticing. Even more impressive is his relative inexperience when juxtaposed to his peers. Despite being a seasoned guitar player, he only began to make beats in the middle of 2017. After a year of producing, his eccentric sound and image have allowed him to get placements with Convolks, 9tails, Scum, and Guardin. At this rate, Jakky is poised to become the Best Damn Thing out of Ontario since his idol. These artists’ success can be attributed to their ability to create new sounds and reform old sounds. From the pop sensibilities of Deliver The Crush, to the angsty riffs of Jakky Boi, these artists remained willing and able to develop their respective crafts over time. In an age where it feels like anybody can produce, rap, or sing, that is very refreshing.
