SMH how is it possible this album has been out for nearly 7 months and we’ve only heard less than half the tracks live? And only one is a non-single. And with the exception of HAW, the others have literally only been played once.

So 1). I was right that she wasn’t working with “heavy hitters.” And 2). I’m pretty sure “artists” and their brokers have been trying to make a buck off their work since antiquity, which I believe predates postmodernism. So it’s evolved organically into an industry, like everything else. 1) I'm not sure what you're even referring to by being "right", initially I said that Avril might've felt sidelined by their older (and indeed more experienced/renown) co-workers on the whole project. 2) art vs. industry is therefore hard to define, because just like every society with active trade isn't considered a capitalist one, neither is every artist making a buck from people buying their work considered having an industry. Commissioning artists to do artwork has been rather pervasive since the Renaissance, but certain aspects of such contracts could be considered as diverging from what could be seen as an industry in modern times - Botticelli and Michelangelo had greater artistic liberty doing works, than, for example, producers of Hallmark romance, romcom and holiday movies - of course the former two had also a much bigger reputation, but generally even the less prominent commissioned artists had certain liberties that are absent or reduced in other cases. Some may claim that the difference between being an industry or not is pretty much based on what autonomy an artist has - say, the difference between an artwork's shape being formed solely by an artist's wishes and intentions, vs. an artwork that is subordinated to market demands. Of course there exist various 'shades of gray' between the two extremes, and arguably even artist him/herself might be subconsciously subordinating himself to what's popular. All in all this is a very complex topic that really has no definitive or simple conclusion, so I'm gonna wrap this up here, we're going somewhat off-topic anyway. That’s a lot to write just to end up agreeing with me. Thank you for coming around to my side.

. I just wish she played more new songs instead of always playing old singles from a decade plus ago we’ve heard thousands of times. The event description clearly stated it’s gonna be old singles from a decade because it was supposed to be an event celebrating her nearly 20 years on stage

I hadn’t seen that, just knew she was going to be performing there. The only set I’ve ever watched from there is Taylor’s and she played all songs from her latest album at the time, so I just assumed Avril would too. In that case, I’m surprised Complicated or Sk8er Boi weren’t included. Both were way bigger hits than MHE, which I’m.sick of hearing at this point. She’s played it quite a bit already this era.

Just watched Warrior and MHE
God, couldn't she be more professional, I don't wish for hitting every note right but at least remember the lyrics, especially how she emphasized the song is important, it ruins my thought of it, as well as the fact she didn't give a damn about the high notes which are the best part of MHE, the anger

Avril is just so messy. I always hoped she would become more accomplished but that ship sailed log ago. I'm thankful she gave us her best self-written song during this era, but was hoping the Grammy museum performance would be really interesting and she'd push herself. Her vocals are pitchy and off key at times Why after all these years she cannot just get up on stage and perform on her own, it would feel more personal. She could have sat at the piano and play HAW, Birdie & IFILWTD. Played MHE & another old hit n guitar. It just puzzle me how she has never improved.

I have been listening to Warrior... The album version, the acoustic and the demo. I think the acoustic es pretty awesome, specially the vocal that doesn't exist in the album version. I really like the demo version too. I would have made a mix between the album and the demo versions. The bridge in the demo is great. Maybe a little less "electronic", but the drums are better too.

That was a great opportunity to show what kind of singer-songwriter you are and you, dear Avril, messed up everything. I feel sorry for the audience, hope they didn't pay anything to see someone who almost missed to start Warrior because she was talking to her guitarist. What kind of behaviour is that??

Taylor has worked her *ss off to constantly improve in every way. She writes and composes better. She sings and plays guitar and piano better. She PERFORMS better. She takes pride in pleasing the audience and she dresses impeccably as a Star should🌟. Avril is just lazy. But I still love her.

I think some of this criticism is warranted, and some is just a case of not understanding Avril and who she is.
I DO think Avril could benefit from a mentor of some sort to help her improve musically and performance-wise, but I also acknowledge and accept that Avril is also not ever going to be someone who will “wow” with a performance - in a way it’s like expecting Alanis Morrissette to put on a show like Taylor Swift - it just isn’t going to happen.
But, she sounded great, was much more relaxed and seemed to be having fun, which in turn I’m sure let’s the audience enjoy it as well.

But I still love her. ;j I honestly don't see how Avril is lazy, after what's she's been through with Lyme she could have decided just to give up on everything but here she is 17 years into her career going on tour and onto her 6th album. Head above water is some of Avril's best work, Probobly the best she has ever written. Avril seems genuinely excited about the tour and plays piano, guitar and drums on tour. As for the performance on Thursday, it seemed to be a very relaxed kind of show and it was good to see Avril so at ease with the audience and talking to them during the show. And she looked amazing aswell, gorgeous outfit, the pants a throwback to UMS. No she isn't Taylor Swift, but I wouldn't want her to be, I love Avril for being Avril.

It was a show in a relaxed setting, and from what I've seen the audience loved it and loved her. Her first show in five years after everthing she been through, I'm proud of her.

Adam, I agree that HAW is her best record.
