Crush is one of my favs. Its so delicate. Sounds like a state of bliss. Ethereal, somewhere out of reality... as if she brought us all to this cloud of happiness. ❤

TMIO still goes off for me TMIO is one of her best songs IMO and is so underrated. Something about it is just cool. It’s like nothing she’s done before and the video is so cool too. I think it’s release date may have had something to do with it. It just got lost amongst Christmas. And it annoys me how Taylor Swifts Lover is very similar and is a massive hit that got radio AirPlay.

I think a lot of fans don’t appreciate TMIO (or Crush) because it’s so far removed from her typical pop/rock. Not a lot of her fans are into jazz. I think it also never really went anywhere on the charts partly cause of the release time but also because they didn’t put a lot of effort into promoting it. But I think this type of music really suits her and I’d love to hear more of it.
Yeah Lover is very similar but of course it’s going to do better because it’s Taylor but also because she actually promotes her stuff.

Agree re TMIO. One of the best songs she’s ever done and her vocals are insane. I really wouldn’t mind a whole album in a TMIO/Crush style.

^ Seriously it was the first song I had heard from her in a looooong time that actually blew me away, I wasn't expecting those vocals at all!

I played TMIO for some friends of mine, my age. I asked them when they thought it was made. One of them was sure he remembered it from the 60s.

I love TMIO too even though I don’t listen to it too much. It’s something new and different for her and I really appreciate that. Taylor’s Lover was a hit because
1. It’s a great song 2. She is popular right now, more than Avril 3. She actually promotes her stuff and interacts with everyone. Avril just puts out new music promotes them a few times on IG and disappears.

I was just thinking everything you all just said. I think the addition of brass and trumpets ,the jazz element really spices up pop rock music. Like Kelly Clarkson now has a brass section for Miss Independent or Walk Away and it's *chef's kiss*. Avril really reinvented herself with TMIO. Never thought she'd be capable of sounding so good in that genre. But most Avril fans are stuck in that it's not the typical pop rock sound (dude all this music is related to rock) and doesn't have real drums or something.

Tell me its over could've been huge. Like lover maybe. Of course it was a promotion problem. I don't really know who to blame if Avril or her management.
In any case, I listen to all this different types of music (right now on my playlist is metal and yesterday was R&B). I just really like music so I'm most interested in good music rather then specific types of music.
Sad to say, Avril's music quality has been dropping since her 4th album. I'm still standing here for her to blow me away. She almost did with HAW album but somehow she didn't as well.

I actually don't think it has potential to be huge. It could have enjoyed decent airplay with promo but no hit. Lover is popular because Taylor is popular. Avril is now out of mind unless it's throwback day. Maybe AL era could have made it a hit but HAW era it's sadly dead in the water.

I get your point. She's not as big as Taylor but what makes a hit? I mean... call me maybe was totally the opposite of what was on the radio at the time. Somebody that I used to know was also very different. The same with despacito and Royals.
It's always the unexpected I believe. Avril just hasn't found her path. She's too lost in the genres she wants to sing. And I believe that it has something to do with her not listening to a lot music as she already stated.

"Somebody" got lots of airplay on alternative stations. I doubt they would even play anything off HAW except maybe DB. If they don't play it or promo it, even with streaming available, its tough to make a hit.
