As many others have said, frankly at this point I don't care about a DB video comes out and it doesn't even make sense anymore. I would certainly be interested in seeing a video of Birdie, IFILWTD, or It was in me. These are the three songs with a deep and important meaning in which would be worth seeing a very good video.

I honestly don't see how she's "competing". She gives herself no chance by not promoting the song. It automatically takes a step down to whatever other competition is out there because she doesn't make the most of it. At least that's how I see it.

I don't think she really is trying tbh. Yeah, I'm sure she wants to sell albums, but she admits she doesn't even have to make music. She also can't do too much promo and shooting of videos because she still has the Lyme to deal with. Not trying to use that as a crutch/excuse, but rest is important, seeing family and friends is as well. She may feel good now, but burning the candle at both ends doesn't work when you're in your 30's with a disease to add to it. Despite what some people think, I think that her approach is smart due to her situation. If she was a new artist, that would be a whole different story. She would definitely need a different approach to market her brand. Avril has a built in audience or we would not be here on a forum still in 2019. Let that sink in...a lot of forums went extinct probably 10 years ago and transitioned to something else. She and her music still resonate with many of us that this forum is still up and running (2.0 style). I think it's more about getting her music to her fans, doing promo to get additional sales, then resting up for a possible tour.

Very well said, I could not agree more. I'll also add that, Avril to me is one of those artists to me that does not even need to keep making music for me to keep loving her for the rest of my life. I'm very happy that she keeps making music, but I don't demand or expect anything more from her. I love her just way she is, she has already proven herself to me. I'm definitely one of her built in audience members ever since she finished her album "Under My Skin; an album that holds a very special place in my heart.

The last posts summarize my thoughts and I agree. It's clear to everyone that Avril hasn't even tried to make a real promotion. I firmly believe that the most important thing for her was to bring this album to light, tell her story and give it to her fans who have been waiting for her for five long years.
The record had what it takes to be a commercial success, and it started very well with HAW as a single, but then they let it sink slowly. Right now, it's easy to understand that Avril has to do everything without overdoing it. Who knows, maybe for the next album if her health will allow it, she will do things differently. Get back to perfect shape after such disease isn't easy at all.

I'm definitely one of her built in audience members ever since she finished her album "Under My Skin; an album that holds a very special place in my heart. i've couldn't said it better, thanks. i also add, that i don't know if she don't want to be relevant anymore and it's okay to her making music for herself and her fans, or just making this ridiculous marketing strategy (or it's lack). sometimes i feel she found her roots again, making music for fun, not for the label. it's obvious that she's never been so dominant about her work like now, and it's started around GL era. tha fact that is shown in some song's quality, means poor lyrics or bad production but these were absolutely hers and not served trendings. on the other hand i often feel that she misses the spotlight and acting like that b.tch she stated she's not in DB. i think she has more authentic behaviour in GL era and although her music appear more honest to me now HAW era than AL (which was a mess and just Nickelback trash sry) she put on THAT way of speaking, primming and hair banding that i find very annoying and embarassing. i don't know if she doing it for the publicity or because of Philip and her new friends (obvious that despite she claims the opposite, her lovebirds effect more on her music and attitude as well). and don't forget that her team throwed into Nicki Minaj in last minute.. it shows that they care. it seems a bit negative, i know, but you mentioned all the things from my heart so i didn't want to be repetitive. i wouldn't mind if there wouldn't be mv for DB, it's just not a good song, not represent HAW and people wouldn't care if it has a good message (quite childish expression tbh) they would think it's outdated and maybe disney trash (as i read some comments from non-fans). Avril is really sensible, i think that would make her disappointed. i rather hope that there's some chance for Birdie, Devil or IWIN because these are pure perfection.

Or it will come months later when no one cares anymore. If they wanted to feature a popular female rapper they should have gone with Cardi B instead. I don’t like her at all but she is more popular than Nicki at the moment and probably would have been more reliable for a video shoot as well. Nicki has been canceling concerts recently with short notice. I wouldn’t be surprised if for whatever reason she has flaked out on doing a video too. I think Cardi would have brought more attention to this collab than Nicki. Still, if Nicki didn’t want to do the video Avril still could have done one for the solo version.

Agree but look, whats the point of putting a more famous rapper for a song, pay her a lot of money and then no video for it also. They could have feature Cardi but I bet they wouldnt ride the hype also so its whatever

Avril's team let the song die and there's no much they can do now.

I get it's an old song now, but it doesn't matter the song isn't popular. If they make a video, send the song to radio and make some promo, it could start charting. It's like after an album is released you can't release singles because everyone already heard them. DB was a promo single for the album, not an official single yet, there's nothing to say it is a single only because it was released 2 days before the album but no radio, no mv, no promo...
