The Canadian singer joined Global’s “The Talk” on Tuesday, sharing her thoughts about her new album and performing the title track live.
During the electric performance all of the hosts, including Sheryl Underwood, Carrie Ann Inaba, Sharon Osbourne, Eve and Sara Gilbert, got into the groove by dancing and singing along to the catchy tune.
But after nailing the track live, Lavigne joined the panel to chat about getting back into the music scene.
“I threw myself out there and wrote about the journey that I’ve been on and I was hoping that I would be able to help other people and inspire other people,” she says. “And I think that the feedback has been positive.”
The song “Head Above Water” is about Lavigne’s struggle with Lyme Disease, and now she hopes the track will bring awareness to the illness, “After having Lyme Disease I started the Avril Lavigne Foundation.”
The musician reveals the foundation is there to “support people and bring light to it with treatment and awareness.”
Lavigne teased her performance on “The Talk” to fans on Twitter, sharing how “excited” she was to stop by the talk show.
“The Talk” airs weekdays at 2 p.m. ET/PT on Global.
Lavigne released Head Above Water on Feb. 15, her first album since the self-titled Avril Lavigne in 2013.
We caught up with Avril Lavigne at the Race to Erase MS benefit gala in April 2018, where the Canadian punk rocker shared how her new album was directly influenced by her battle against Lyme disease – watch below.
