Maybe working in the music industry didn't allow them to have the time to be together as they wanted. I don't see Chad putting his tour on hold for 2 years to be next to avril while she recovers from Lyme. Also the members of nickelback would have been affected by that decistion. Maybe she needed someone who's not touring all the time. I may be wrong bc Brody wasn't in the music industry but it didn't work neither. I don't know. Maybe Chad wanted to have kids and Avril didn't, maybe they had a crush on each other and thought they had the same objectives in life and then they found out they were taking different roads. who knows, I wonder the same about Deryck W.

Every relationship has it's challenges. They hadn't been going out very long before they got engaged. Maybe they didn't know each other well enough to make that kind of commitment. The age difference might have been a problem too. We will never really know. In the US, almost half of all marriages end in divorce. And, they are the lucky ones. All the rest end in death.

I always thought Avril and Deryck had issues because of Deryck's drinking. I don't think he was a nasty drunk but Avril was quite focused on healthy living even back then, even though she did get drunk every now and then. But Deryck was drinking like every day.

As for Chad, I guess they didn't get to see each other much. Some recent research suggests you need to spend about 14 hours per week with your partner if you want the relationship to stay strong. That's a lot if either one has to travel for work!

I've always interpreted her arrogance as just being uncomfortable talking about herself to the whole world in interviews. If I was a singer, I would hate interviews and would probably come off really fake too because I just wouldn't feel comfortable letting complete strangers know stuff about me.
