IMO Avril just needs inspiration in order to become creative. If Epic forces her into writing more "hits" of course they're not going to sound like anything fresh or new. But she demonstrated plenty of creativity on AL IMO with songs like 17, GYWYL, Bad Girl, Hello Kitty, and Hello Heartache. I really do think she has the ability to make interesting music, it is just a matter of whether she's inspired. After her ordeal with Lyme she seems like she is inspired with music again. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL That's if we ever hear any of the songs she wrote from being inspired by her illness. Don't forget the runners and Avril had a whole record done before Epic made her scrap it all. I don't want her to end up settling again for her 6th record.

I don't want her to end up settling again for her 6th record. I think those Runners songs were scrapped (or most of them at least) by Avril herself before Epic intervened and made her go back to studio with Martin Johnson and co. Remember she went to studio with Chad and David Hodges a few times during 2012, before and after her trip to France. If I remember correctly, she went to studio with The Runners when she was still dating Brody (end '11, beg. '12), so she could've decided to scrap those songs that were about Brody, and with more reason after she started to collaborate with the "Tripod Team" and keep it going throughout 2012. Epic probably made her scrap half of her "Tripod album" (songs like Secret, Echo, Time Goes By, etc) to make room for the "hitmaker" songs, since those songs were registered in various copyright sites like HarryFox Songfile or ASCAP since 2012, unlike the Runners songs that were never registered. However, I agree that Epic/L.A. definitely should let her do her thing and work from there, and don't try to force her to do things she initially didn't want to do. Does that guarantee that those songs about her illness will be included on a future album? No, but it seems very likely that she will release considering it seems to be a extremely personal song to her. Nothing's for sure, but I'm confident she will release it at some point, whether it's as a "standalone" song or included on an EP or full album. Hopefully, we won't see her compromise like we've done last two albums, especially the last one.

Yes, she certainly portrayed her musical development on those songs.... (but maybe with the help of co-writers?)
TBH even if she is musically inspired, I have doubts for her future songs if Epic puts producers like Martin Johnson in the producing team.
The producing is more important than anything. (and it's actually the producing that defines the song's genre.)
I didn't like 17 (I loved its lyrics and melody, but its producing feels no different from WTH), Here's to never growing up, Rock N Roll, and Hello Kitty. Producing all participated by Martin Johnson. Didn't feel like Avril at all.
Chad Kroeger and David Hodges are great producers. But put them with Martin Johnson - then things start to get awful.
Butch Walker and Deryck Whibley are great producers.
The husband of Chantal Kreviazuk (can't remember his name) producer of the UMS tracks like "Slipped Away", "Fall to Pieces", was awesome. The album itself was criticized of its poor lyrics (Kreviazuk, did you really cowrite those lyrics?), but his delicate and beautiful producing created some of Avril's best rock songs.
Don Gilmore, producer of the hard rock/ post grunge UMS tracks like "Take Me Away", "Together", "Forgotten", "Nobody's Home" - I really love that guy.
TBH Avril is not a good producer. Her producing is too simple and repetitive... "4 Real", "Goodbye", and most importantly, "Fly."
But "You Ain't Seen Nothing" was pretty good.
The 6th album producer should not be a pop producer.

Exactly! The production of UMS is one of the main reasons why I think it's the best album.

Fly is currently #18 on the Japanese Recochoku. This is something like iTunes, this retailer has a bigger share in the music there tho. I may actually have a chance to be certified gold at some point. At least it's somewhere selling well.
