1. On my Deluxe Edition Goodbye is 4:30 long without the silence. 2. Yes and the lyrics wouldn't apear in the booklet I have a physical standard edition and a digital deluxe edition of GL. Both have the extended Goodbye with silence. I have both in physical form

I have both in physical form It's kind of funny, when GL came out, I had my mom pick me up a copy on release day after her workday finished (since I didn't have my driver's license back then). I told her to get the deluxe, but she only got me the standard edition. She said the store didn't have the deluxe. I'll never know if the store really didn't have it or if she just didn't see it. Lol.

Lol. Both looks really similar. When she don't release a Deluxe WW and with Real New Bonus Tracks I won't buy it anymore. The Japan AL Deluxe was a little mess

I hate them so much for getting so many exclusive releases. For each of Avril's albums, Japan has gotten multiple exclusive, special edition releases. It's so not fair. Of course, nowadays anyone can buy them online, but it's still unfair! And it's not just Avril. I see for it happen for tons of artists. I don't like when artists release special editions exclusively to certain countries. All fans, no matter which county they live in, should get these releases.

I've never like how Alice was a hidden track on GL. It adds so much silence to the end of Goodbye. It would have been better if they had just put a separate silent track in between them, that way Goodbye would have been its correct length. Goodbye even has the extra silence if bought from iTunes. Like, really? You can't really have a hidden track on a digital album. Even on the deluxe edition which has additional bonus tracks; Alice isn't exactly hidden when there are several bonus tracks, so why does Goodbye still have the silence? I understand that it was somewhat easier for them to just keep using the same mastered track for all releases, but they shouldn't have IMO. And also, since Alice is a hidden track, why was it explicitly listed on the GL track list (at least on the physical release anyway)? Aren't hidden tracks supposed to be completely hidden and discovered by luck/accident? Technically, yeah, it was not a "hidden" track with the way they did it, but this is Avril we're talking about. The version I have of GL does not have any silence, it just goes right from Goodbye to Alice.

More often than not, it's a business reason as opposed to a case of preferential treatment. CDs pressed locally in Japan are more often more expensive for them than imports, so bonus tracks are an incentive to ensure that copies of their domestic CDs are sold.
