Avril Lavigne wants your fashion advice and she’s taken to Instagram to ask for it. The singer-songwriter is preparing to open the Special Olympics World Games on July 25 in Los Angeles.
It’s a charity that’s near and dear to Avril, who penned the song "Fly" this past April in support of the games. The performance will be her first since contracting Lyme disease in spring 2014. Naturally, Canada’s punk princess wants to look her best.
Working with celebrity stylist Leah Rae Smith, the “Complicated” singer perused a rack with several stunning gowns worthy of a return to centre stage, but Avril ended up turning to her fans on Instagram for help in making the final selection.
In one snap shared on the social site, the star can be seen walking in front of a rack of sparkling, show-stopping dresses. The caption is simple: “Decisions..... Dress fitting today for my first performance back in a year #SpecialOlympics #SpecialOlympicsOpeningCeremony”

She went on to post a photo of herself in a beautiful V-neck number, saying, “I haven’t decided yet what dress to wear ..... So many to pick from. Working with my favorite @leahraesmith again and so happy!!! #UnderMySkin #TheBestDamnThing #SpecialOlympicsOpeningCeremony”
The comments on both pictures are full of suggestions on which dazzler she should choose, including how she should style her long, blond locks. It’s clear her fans are excited to see Avril return to the the stage.
Last month, the 30-year-old gave an emotional interview about her struggle with the debilitating ailment. After being bedridden for months, she told Good Morning America: “I’m doing a lot better… I’m seeing a lot of progress. I’m just really grateful to know that I will make a 100 per cent recovery.” She said it was the support of her fans that got her through treatment.
“Honestly, I felt very, very loved. And it sounds silly saying it, but I really truly did feel my fans through the process.”
