The 30-year-old singer took to the stage Saturday to perform her new single "Fly" at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles. The performance -- which she nailed -- was her first since she revealed her battle with Lyme disease.
Life & Style Weekly:
It's hard to believe the stunning Avril Lavigne we saw grace the stage at the Special Olympics on Saturday has been fighting a debilitating disease for two years.
But there she was, beautiful with long blonde locks and a backless gown, absolutely nailing a performance her song 'Fly' for the crowd, completely defiant of the Lyme disease that had her bed ridding just months ago.

Nylon:
Recovering from Lyme disease hasn't been easy for Lavigne, which makes her first performance all the more inspiring, as she sang about perseverance and overcoming the odds. "It's like a second shot at life," she had said on Good Morning America about defeating the illness. "I want to go out there and truly do what I love, so I'm so excited for life after this."
We're glad to see her performing again and using her own experiences to uplift and empower others with an inspiring ballad like "Fly."

E-Online:
As the torch was lit to officially begin the games, Lavigne appeared onstage in a sparkling dress to perform her inspiring single that benefits the games.
While the performance was all for a special cause, it clearly marks a powerful milestone for Lavigne who has been recovering from Lyme disease.
