Amanda Palmer wants to start punk supergroup with avril

(5 May 2014): given that good ol' avril lavigne is back in the news, i thought it would be a good time to exhume this piece of classic soul-baring soul-trashing karaoke verité video from the deep vaults.

nobody back then understood my obsession with avril's second record, the worlds perfect pop masterpiece of candy-coated teen angst, not even me.

what i do know is that it was 2006 (2007?), i was absolutely heart-sick and heart-broken and head-sick and head-broken from too much touring with no reprise, and i fixated on that pop record for a few months like a 5-year old fixates on a train video.

manta (aka david Franklin) was on tour with us for a week and i grabbed him to do this. making this video, while it it not an artistic masterpiece, actually provided a balm for my soul, something to do, and something to put myself into when i felt like i had hit the absolute bottom of the barrel.

everywhere we went that week we filmed some lip-sync footage ... most of it is in london and the UK, but some is, I think, filmed in Belgium.

right....it was the month "hail to the thief" came out - if you can spot it.

right.

people thought i was trying to be funny.

I was and I really wasn't.

p.s. after I'd exhausted this record I moved into being obsessed for a few months with bright eyes' "fevers and mirrors". sadly i made no video. there is still time.
