I just recently finished the Chamber of Secrets. I ordered a copy of the next 2 books off of eBay plus the DVD set of all the movies. In the meantime I started the Chronicles of Narnia series but I'm anxious to start the next HP book! The second book was just as thrilling as the first I think. Yay, I hope you enjoy Prisoner of Azkaban. If I absolutely had to choose then that one would probably be my favourite. Reading these comments is making me want to do another HP reread.

So I'm like 20 years late to the party but honestly growing up I was never into Harry Potter at all. Not one bit. Never read any of the books. I saw the first movie in school in the 5th grade because they made us watch it for some unknown reason but I never remembered anything about it except the Quidditch scene. Otherwise never watched any of the movies either. Everyone in my class was obsessed with either the books, the films, or both. Somehow despite never reading the books or watching the movies, I still knew the characters and the general plot of the story, the terms like Quidditch, etc. (Goes to show you the influence it had on pop culture). For awhile I had been wanting to try reading the books. Once many years ago I previewed the first book on Amazon and couldn't even get past the first page. I think back then I was one of those people who didn't like something if other people liked it, and so I probably hated it by default because everyone else loved it and I was determined to not like it. I was always a super huge fan of Tolkien and I probably thought that authors like JK Rowling were just bad imitations and that HP would never be any LOTR, or anything like that. Like I said... determined to hate it. But recently I had been wanting to give them a try. I figured they're popular for a reason. I love fantasy novels in general. The guy that I have a crush on at work was talking about them recently too and we were having a conversation about fantasy novels and he said if I liked Tolkien that I would like HP. So that may have been partially what also influenced me to start reading them. So basically I just finished the first book a couple days ago and I LOVED it! I don't remember the last time I enjoyed a book so much, especially something new to me. I was literally on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. I could feel myself actually reading faster and faster because I wanted to keep finding out what would happen next. I didn't want to stop reading and I always looked forward to my free time at home when I could pick it back up and read more. I just kept wanting to find out what was going to happen next. I now have the second book and am going to start reading as soon as I can. I think I know the general story of the whole series but I still don't want any spoilers and want to read all the books to find out what happens. I'm trying to find them secondhand in thrift shops or libraries so I don't have to buy them new, so I have to kind of look for them one by one for now. So for now I've just got the first 2 books but am gonna try to find the others. So after reading the first book I wanted to watch the first movie and see how they compare. Watched it last night and also loved it a lot, it's so weird though to see the actors being so young then since they are grown up now (especially weird to see Emma Watson this year in Beauty and the Beast and to watch her as young Hermoine). They did a pretty good job staying true to the book and didn't change anything too much. I definitely want to see all the movies also and probably watch them after I finish their respective book to see how they compare. Looking at a package on eBay that has all the films for 16 bucks, as again, I don't want to spend a fortune on it. I borrowed the first film from the library, been trying to find the films in secondhand stores but they only have certain ones. My library also doesn't seem to have them all. Anyway, that was my first experience with Harry Potter and I'm really glad I've given it a chance and now get the hype about it. I'm 20 years late, but better late than never, right? I'm also super creepy because I stalked the guy I like on Instagram and saw that he went to Harry Potter World or whatever this weekend at Universal in Orlando and they had butter beer (haven't come across that in the books yet). Maybe now I have something new to talk about with him (Harry Potter I mean, not talking about his Instagram pics ) Also I've taken quizzes in the past about what house I belong in, but took a couple more quizzes today to see, and every time I have gotten Ravenclaw as my house. And I'm over two weeks late for this post, but I just want to say I'm very glad you've given this series a chance. J.K Rowling is a real mastermind, and her writing has that effect of transporting you to another world and making you want to keep reading, and reading, and reading. Specially SS, since each chapter ends on a cliffhanger that makes you immediately turn the page to see what happens next. You'll see how these books keep getting better and better, and I'm not going to spoil you, but it starts getting darker, and I'd say that the last three books are no longer for children, but for a more mature audience. So, you'll notice lots of things shifting from book to book. Prisoner of Azkaban is SO GOOD, well, I wouldn't be able to say that any of them are bad at all since I love this saga so much, but maybe CoS was one of the books I enjoyed the least (only because the remaining 6 are so awesome, IMO.) In terms of the films, I'll only say that PoA is my all-time favorite movie. Cuarón did such an impeccable job with it. My least favorite is Order of the Phoenix, but we'll get to that once you've read the book and watched the movie Still, I'm a huge sucker for the films as well because as films alone they are pretty decent and high-quality. Plus, I just love the actors and the chemistry Emma, Dan, and Rupert had. I hope you continue to enjoy this journey and I can almost assure you you'll most likely go from being a muggle to a fully transformed witch.

It's a pity that Grint's tends to be overlooked, he did not only make a very credible Ron, with his virtues and faults but also much emphasized his funny, foolish side to the point that now one cannot read the books without looking him that way. His character simply had less highlights than Harry or Hermione but the playing of the part is as good as Radcliffe and Watson's

I’m in the middle of reading and watching the series for the second time. I’m currently reading Prisoner of Azkaban and we just finished the Half Blood Prince movie last night. It feels weird to be getting through the movies quicker than the books, like so much happens and yet when I go back to read the book I’m on they’re still kids lol

It is bizarre to me why these movies always air around Christmastime even though they aren’t Christmas movies and the majority of them don’t even take place during Christmas or only very briefly.

Probably cuz of the holiday vibes especially the first 2 movies gifs out a holiday season vibe. That and they came out always around that time of year so I think its when people feel nostalgic for them the most

I always watch at Christmas time too. Sadly, I don't have the streaming services to watch these whenever I want anymore. But I've marathoned them all in the background while I'm doing things. They don't get old.

Doesnt have anything to do with thanksgiving at all, but all those movies (besides the first) came out around Thanksgiving so it takes me back to 2013-2015 being hyped for them and the thanksgiving season, Same with Twilight too nothing to do with Thanksgiving, but they all came out around that time so i get in the mood to rewatch them. So i thinkit s mroe of a connection nostalgia thing then anything.
