I think OotP is my favourite book. I just love how in every single chapter something happens that makes you go like "WHAAAAAAAAT??!!" And Umbridge, of course. I hate her more than Wormtail, Voldemort, and Bellatrix together but I guess it's a kind of love-hate: I love hating her (though sometimes she makes me want to throw the book out of my window...). :lmao: But you're right, she's like screaming for people to hate her. As for Bellatrix, to be honest, I somehow liked/pitied her. Rowling doesn't make it clear if she was truly in love with Voldemort, but at least it's evident she was obsessed, just like Voldemort's mother, Merope, was obsessed with Thomas Riddle. I think that she was so devoted to him she would do anything to keep him by her side-and eventually, her mind got fucked up. Certainly her stance in Azkaban probably didn't help. Actually I was glad Molly finally killed her because I didn't want her back in Azkaban, but to finally rest in peace. Back to Dolores Umbridge, I love to hate her too She reminds me of when we got this new headmaster at school and he had the same sugared cover over a rather unfair, cruel, unintelligent personality, and teachers hated him as well-oh, and he also had his unofficial student-only squad. Maybe it's because I met someone so similar to her that I hate her so vehemently and feel such disgust every time I read her name. Call me merciless, but honestly when she got dragged by the centaurs I was like "ONLY THAT? ROWLING, I HOPED YOU HAD THAT BITCH CRUCCIATED TO DEATH!" Ok, maybe not to death. But to dementia would have been OK to me. If she had had her to spend the rest of her life as a St Mungo's mad in the attic just like Neville Longbottom's parents I wouldn't like the books any less

I just love HP discussion! Bellatrix and Umbridge were really great characters and also played really well in the movies. I also think Snape is one of my fav characters - that story! Did you guys know Jo told Alan Rickman that Snape was in love with Lily beforehand to get him to take the role? He told her that he needed to know more about this person before he took the part and she told him. He was absolutely BRILLIANT as Snape. I figured out about his double agent (well triple agent if you count Dumbledore as well!) thing at the end of Goblet of Fire already. The way Dumbledore said 'You know what has to be done' or something like that. And later I just knew that Lily had to be the reason behind all of it. You know how he was also nasty to poor Neville? I only recently realised that it's because he probably resents him for not being chosen over Harry. Remember it could have been either Harry or Neville? Oh and you probably never noticed but Jo is a genius: Mirror of Erised - Desire spelled backwards! And Grimmauld Place - Grim Old Place ha ha.

The Death that hit me hardest in the books was Dumbledore - that moment where Harry fixes his skew half-moon glasses is just...can't even think about it...too emotional *sobs*. But in the movie it was Dobby, poor little elf. So sweet...and the fact that he was so innocent in a way...aaaw.

Oh, I love this discussion. I'd answer to each and everyone of you but I can't and I don't have time for that (Gotta go in 4 minutes) but rest assured I read all the replies and I love them. Maybe I will answer later. It's nice to meet fellow Harry Potter fans. I think the hardest death for me was Dobby's. That poor little guy. I loved him so much!

I always loved the movies, since the beginng, but I was never interested in reading any kind of book, till I started 3 years ago. When you start reading books (and i'm only reading fantasy) you can't pass Harry Potter. So I started to read it. Right now I'm reading book 3 and I have to say that the books are pretty good. I have to say, that it is a bit hard to read them, because you know the complete story and there is nothing new. Of course there are a lot of things which doesn't happen in the movies and only in the books. I'm very curious about that One thing that I noticed in the first two books is, that they are very strong in terms of atmosphere. It's amazing! Especially when it's christmas and halloween time. You really think that you are in hogwarts There is one thing that I sill don't understand. One time I looked up for Harry Potter tattoos and a lot of people had a quote which said "always". I know that Snape said that when Dumbledore asked him if he still loves Lily after all this time. Are these people tattooing this "always" because Snape said that or because something different? When I saw that "always" the first time, I thought they have tattoo it because they still love the Harry Potter world after all these years e.g. You like Harry Potter after all these years? Always. Something like that. Has anyone any clue?

'Always' has such a link, or so synonymous with Harry Potter because of Snape's story and what he did for Lily (he did everything he did because of her, because Harry was her son) and that he never stopped loving her. It's the idea of never stop loving something/someone, of not giving up on the love I think. I just love him as a character as well especially with Alan Rickman playing him - he was genius!!!! Just Wow!

BTW I saw about the books on a TV program at around 12 and thought they looked interesting (this was around '98/'99). Then later when my brother turned 11 my aunt bought the first book for his birthday but I swiped it first! I was so enthralled while reading it I kept telling people about everything I drove my parents crazy! I got the rest of the books from my aunt as well and I remember I finished GOF at like 2 o' clock in the morning 3 days after starting it, haha haha I couldn't stop! What are your memories of first contact with Harry Potter? Or Potter memories?

I agree with Yolandi. I also think that 'Always' gives a nice reference to loving Harry Potter forever.

Btw can a mod merge this and my Harry Potter fans thread? if silent soul doesn't mind. I don't care whose gets merged into whose. I'm sure we can discuss all HP related content in one thread. It's ok. I have no idea if it's possible should I ask someone?

@silent Soul: For some reason your opening post of the other thread vanished during the merge. So you should re-state your question.
