I'm going to still be using Chrome until Microsoft adds extensions for Edge, but I'll start using the new Windows browser eventually, just to see how it works. Edge includes major changes that should make it more secure than IE ever was. I'm hoping these changes also make it easier for developers to write code for extensions. The reason there were always more add-ons and extensions for all the other browsers was, it took ten times as much code to write extensions for IE. My favorite extension for Waterfox/Firefox is a video download helper that lets me easily capture videos from youtube.

You don't have to wait if you don't want to. Go back to the first post in this thread and read the first two sentences again. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I've spent 2h 45min and was almost through the upgrade and then my computer shut down and the upgrade didn't happen.. well i guess I'll stick to w7. But that was kinda expected since my computer shut it's self down with "the blue screen of death" everytime i use it.

You probably can't tell me the error code. By default, W7 will restart after bsod. You can change that setting by following these instructions.. Then you will be able to see the error code. Once you can see the error code, google it and perhaps find a solution. Or, tell me the error code and I will try to help.

I managed to take a picture (Normally it's much longer... 15 minutes after it went blue again with the usual blue screen)

Clean installs are always better, porting from an OS to another is a lot more complex process since every system is custom with its own apps and configs I've followed this tutorial Be sure you backup everything before even stating www.windowscentral.com/official-windows-10-iso-files-now-available-downloadYou basically retrieve your Windows 7 licence key with a command And use that microsoft app, to create a bootable USB drive with Windows 10 instalation

^ I ported from 8.1 to 10 fine with all my settings and programs intact- id only use a clean install if i didnt want to keep my stuff and even then, the windows 10 installer asks what installation you want to perform

I used to believe "Clean installs are always better". Once I achieved a high degree of proficiency with W7, I changed my mind. Since then, I believe "clean installs" are the least time efficient way to do an upgrade. Yes, a clean install is easy for you and me. I don't know about you but, I've done over a thousand. I don't believe this user has ever done one. Restoring all the apps and files can take forever. In this case, I think it is best to understand the origin of her BSOD problem, before before making a final recommendation. In this case, there is an indication the problem is related to a virus. If it turns out to be a rootkit, a clean install won't fix it. I'm pretty good at sorting these kind of things out.

Welp I've upgraded and I like it a lot, trying out Edge too. I won't miss Windows 8 I couldn't wait to get it and I was right. It's so much better. Like my teacher said: "every second Windows is good, the rest in between is trash."

I heard they could spy on everything in Windows 10. My boyfriend tells me we shouldn't download it but I have a lot of errors in my original windows 7. My iPod cannot update anymore and during installing updates for windows 7 sometimes he just 'keeps hanging' you know what I mean? Frustrating tho..

But you can turn off most of the spying options. I wouldn't be surprised if they already spied on us with Windows 7. It's just more obvious with Windows 8 and 10.
