And also, negative things can sometimes overshadow positive things; meaning that a few people saying that Avril is unenthusiastic can evolve into many people believing that she is unenthusiastic and bored during her performances. (There's probably a politically correct psychology term for this phenomenon, but I can't think of it). Take your pick. But I don't think there's any kind of herd mentality going on here. Opinions on Avril's recent performances are always quite disparate.

Whilst I believe she wasn't keen on WTH, HTNGU, RNR etc I do question why she insists on playing them during every show and completely ignoring her serious songs she apparently wanted to make? At this point in her career 99% of people at her shows are long term fans, they don't want to hear crap like HTNGU and have her completely ignore FF, HH etc It's not even like WTH, HTNGU or RNR did well either. Everyone's sick of those types of songs from a 30 year old. She'd have done much better to release a more mature pop song, 17, followed up by GYWYL, Hello Heartache etc. the insistence of her releasing "never growing up sticking my middle finger up I'm so rock and roll" crap has done far too much damage to her career. Avril said in many interviews that she wanted to have setlists full of singles because singles are the songs that get the crowd most excited. I'm sure she's been saying this since TBDT era at least. If only she got rid of this attitude. Yeah, it's one of the things she seems to insist on since years ago. And the fact she's gotten less and less relevant/successful have only worsened it, like she thought people will only care about singles and won't give a damn about non-single songs. I think we all understand she needs to have some of her "trademark" songs like Complicated, My Happy Ending, Girlfriend or even WTH; and also the singles for the album that's (supposedly) being promoted. And even though casual fans that attend a concert of hers might focus more on those "classic" songs, loyal and more hardcore fans want to hear more album tracks, old and new, which are usually better songs than the singles; heck, even casual fans might like those songs being performed. Her setlist is definitely one of the things she needs to improve in order to be at the top of her game again.

I would definitely say that the key for album#6 or any other album is the single choice. LMG proved it! I heard that song every day on the radio when it was released. Even when it was #31 on charts I heard it everyday. That was the point when I thought "ok, it depends on the song, not on the charts!!!"
HH or FF would definitely be good single choices!! How can it be that some artists like Lana Del Rey which absolutely doesn't make mainstream radio music get so much airplay and Avril didn't??

Yeah, I can't see Avril putting out an album this year unless she's been secretly working on an album the whole time. She may have wrote a few songs here and there but I can't see it this year. Spring, next year maybe.

I think 2015 will be her year off, no studio or anything job related other than Fly/The foundation. If shes feeling better by 2016 maybe she will start working on a 6th album, by the time she will be 32, and it may be that that will be her last album ever (I fear that could easily be the truth) but unless she has finished the album by early 2016 we won't hear it before 2017 and then if she's not seriously into making music for a living and want to start a family, I actually think Avril will slowly say goodbye.

I don't see Avril ever stopping with music. I don't think she cares whether she is popular or not, making music is her life and she said a long time ago that she would do it always no matter what. A new album by the end of the year probably won't happen but she did mention wanting to "kick ass" in 2015. She mentioned some projects that she has coming up this year, unless it is just the GYWYL video, Fly, and other things with ALF. I think if Avril is allowed more creative freedom, I can see her doing music well into her 50s, 60s, and beyond. Even Britney and Madonna are still going and they are older than her and have had longer careers. I think Avril is just focusing on getting better for right now and maybe she is trying to figure out what direction to go in musically. But I see her doing music forever.

Madonna, Cher, Joan Jett, Dolly Parton...all them are way older than Avril and still have careers. Probably Madonna's the only one that still has some impact on the mainstream, but all of them keep releasing music. I think that, as long as Avril is inspired and finds some label that can channel her inspiration in the way she wants, she'll keep on making music. Also, don't forget she's married to a musician. It's not like her current occupation is her only connection to the musical world.

But I see her doing music forever. Writing music? Possibly yeah. Making albums, live performances and world tours? Wishful thinking. And I wouldn't take Avril's soothsaying too seriously, because she's said lots of things about herself which weren't exactly prophetic. As role models go, you could do a lot worse than Avril. But her career, her image and the statements she's made haven't been particularly consistent. But honestly, all I'm waiting for is Avril being well again. Everything else is just a bonus at this stage.

My heart would stop when she says that she will never release an album after her 6th or 7th

Everything else is just a bonus at this stage. Unless she gets famous/relevant again, like having some kind of "hit", I don't see her having big tours like she did during her first albums. But I don't think she'll abandon performing completely, at least until she's really old (50+ years old). I do think she'll keep writing AND releasing albums, even though they are "flops" and they take some time to be released; what would be the point of writing music if you don't release any of it? I agree that her career and image has been inconsistent, to say the least. She's been a "big mouth" some times, and later she's done things that were the opposite of what she was supposed to be; she hasn't had that lately, but her "changes of mind" have affected her career in the long term. There are artists who change their style and image, but they're able to preserve that essence and are able to keep their core fanbase while being able to get new fans. But when it comes to Avril, she destroyed her previous image with TBDT (due to music and non-music issues) and after she hasn't been capable of fixing that. As I said someone said once, we don't even know where Avril stands for: does she want to be a "popstar"? Does she wants to be a legitimate singer-songwriter? Etc, etc. I constantly see old fans (both former and remaining) posting photos/videos from her first albums/eras, saying or implying how they miss the "old Avril" and can't hold on to her with her last albums/eras; and I can't blame them, to be honest. Yeah, I definitely agree. First and foremost, she needs to recover from her health issues and after that we all can really focus on other things.

But she was 17 with LG and 23 with TBDT it's completely normal to change in that age. And I think the Avril we see now is herself. She started to settle down around 2009 and from 2012 to now i won't say she has changed her personality. Her style ect. But I can't see Avril being in the spotlight for another 20 years. She's going to drop out, maybe she'll try a comrback. As I see it she's going to disappear for a while after 6th maybe 7th album.
