Maybe her illness has done something positive to her, maybe if the lable she is on say do this, this time around she will put her foot down and say no. If Avril still want to be the morherfreaking princess then great! If she doesn't want to be the mfp anymore great! But i hope she do what she wants, if there will be a 6th album or not.

I'm looking forward to a new sound. I am eager to see what album 6 brings. And if there are any bratty songs this time around, I just hope that they don't reuse the "motherfucking princess" line again. That lyric fit so well in Girlfriend, but felt out of place in RNR. We know that Avril can use explicit language in her songs while still making them sound 'in place'; she proved that in UMS.

I deeply hope that doesn't happen, EVER AGAIN In general I'd like it was mature, not-so-pop and organic; I'm a bit optimistic because she said the songs she wrote last weren't "pop" and she changed a "pop production" with a more "stripped-down" one for Fly. I hope she's not "suggested" to back to studio to make "hit songs" again...

I won't mind pop songs as long as they are produced well. I mean, a lot of her songs are pop, but they are produced really nicely. 17 and many other songs on AL could have been good if the production was better. Girlfriend is one of her best produced songs in her entire catalogue.

I honestly think Avril likes writing bratty pop songs, they just didn't fit in with Goodbye Lullaby which is why she made such a fuss at the time.

But she needs to want to write them. The same would have been if RCA wanted her to do all ballads/sad songs when she wanted to make TBDT.

I want her to focus on a mature rock/soft rock sound for this album, without including any pop songs whatsoever.

I know this have been posted like 100 times before.. but! A unreleased songs album would be awesome. If she doesn't want to work on a new album for a while. As she stated in the billboard article. I'm still curious about Fine since Rolling Stones gave it a good rate. Other songs from GL that never made it. The songs with The Runners intended for the 5th album. Avrils demo of All Because Of You and other lost songs from TBDT recording. And maybe if still available songs from her early days in New York. It would be "New" songs, it would shut up fans for a good while. And most important it could possible please many fans. Because it would be songs from all the different albums. It could be a double disc. She could even reuse old photoshoots. All the unreleased material Avril said she had when GL was released. The back to back album she wanted to release in 2013. And for the record lables it would most likely pay off.. because of all the previous fans that would like to go down the nostalgia road. For people that will become fans. This is my dream for a 6th album. I actually prefer this than her going in ths studio from now until 2017. And best of all she wouldn't have to do too much promotion, where she is present. A month maybe with different tv/radio programs. A exclusive live performance. A appearance at a award show. Period. I don't work within show business but it could work. This is my fan dream

And Epic would have to invest only a little money. They could just put the album on iTunes and that would be it. Avril fans would buy it no matter what, so there wouldn't have to be much promotion. It would be better for everyone if the old songs were released.

I'm not so sure how well an album like that would sell in order to make it a worthy investment for Epic. For one thing, when Avril moved to their label did all her material go with her? Does Epic own the rights to songs from Arista (a label that no longer exists) and RCA? I'm not so sure they would have the rights to release any songs that were not recorded under Epic unless they bought them from the label that has them.
Second, an album of brand new material didn't sell that well. I can't imagine anyone but super hardcore fans buying an album of unreleased songs and let's face it, her fanbase has declined since TBDT.
The only possibility I see for ever hearing any unreleased songs is, honestly, when Avril is... erm, no longer with us. Similar to what Epic did for Michael Jackson, basically. It's only when an artist has died that the public takes an interest in that type of stuff.

BogoGog24 i thought of the lable stuff. (The buissniss side) but mostly it is my dream scenario atm. But what if you don't lable is a unreleased songs. But as brand new. Even re-record them. But if we are thinking realistic about what Avril next album could be, the Christmas album is #1. An EP is #2 & A regular studio album is #3. No i don't care about chart positions or album sales, to an other degree than she sell well enough to continue being a musician. I don't think Avril will stay relevant to much longer in the public eye nor in lables veiw. We don't know how long it will take before she recovers (her health). We don't know what Avril is thinking (what she thinks of her future). So all in all, it is wishful thinking

I agree it would be amazing to hear all of Avril's unpublished songs. But I'm also not gonna hold my breath, at least not for songs that were not recorded with Epic. I honestly never thought we'd see a video for GYWYL or hear Fly, but lo and behold we did! Hopefully we will get to hear her wedding song someday too. I do think it's possible we could hear some of the songs that did not make AL, that Avril said she wanted to release on a back to back album. We may not hear them all, but she could add 1 or 2 onto the 6th album. Every album has always had a track from a previous era. For example:
UMS had Don't Tell Me, which Avril said she wrote before Complicated was released.
TBDT had Everything Back But You, which she originally wrote during the sessions for UMS.
GL had Darlin, which she wrote at 15.
AL has Hello Heartache, which according to ASCAP, has the alternate title Complete Me, and we know from the release of the instrumental that it was originally meant for GL. I also have a hunch that Hush Hush was also meant for GL, as it sounds very GL-ish and she worked only with David on that song, no Chad, just like Complete Me/Hello Heartache.
So I think it's possible we could hear another unreleased track or 2 on album 6. Hopefully it won't be Fly but she could end up tacking it on, like with KHO and Alice.

Most likely, anyone's best chance at hearing unreleased stuff from Avril is befriending her. As much as I could dream about hearing the great songs we know she has hidden, I can't picture it realistically. Even if the unspeakable happened and Avril passed away, I still don't think her unreleased stuff would get released. I mean, Michael Jackson was a pretty high-status artist, so of course some of his unreleased stuff got released; but that doesn't happen for every artist. I wish that I could see it happening, but sadly I don't. But, "who knows what could happen, tomorrow's a brand new day" Avril has already surprised us with GYWYL-video and Fly. And then if Abbey Dawn does come back like Avril said, that's something else we thought wouldn't happen.

If she wanted to "shut up fans for a good while", I think an EP with a mix of leftover songs from AL (especially Tripod ones, the ones she discarded to make room for "hits" by Martin JOhnson and co.) and a few new ones (like the song about her disease) would work well, along with a possible Christmas album. Asking for really old unreleased tracks is unrealistic, and it will likely never happen; Avril might not want to release those songs, and I'd rather to have new songs that reflect what she is now and what she wants to do/be. Of course, there might still be a slight chance that she wanted to do that, but she shouldn't feel force to do it because some fans want it.
