The internet is freaking out because of the £1000 cost of an iphone .... the previous 2 models has been £900-1100 here .... the new one is £1500. I dont like the apple products, but find it funny how everyone freaks out everytime a new iphone drops. The new phones that will be out next year will cost closer to £2000 in Norway.

I love iPhones but they indeed are expensive. However, I think spending more than $1,000 is ridiculous. I have the SE which might have been $400? Not even sure. But I think spending more than $500 on a phone is just outrageous. In a few years you’ll need another one.

The cheaper phones cost around $800 dollars ... it is insane how much the phone companies take. And then the sellers.

The sad thing is I think the phones mostly are manufactured in China, so it probably isn't that expensive to actually make them, yet they sell them for a way higher price.

The sad thing is I think the phones mostly are manufactured in China, so it probably isn't that expensive to actually make them, yet they sell them for a way higher price. Worse than that is, what Apple charges to repair their garbage. And, they only guarantee their products for a year. I recently watched a youtube video wherein a repair technician demonstrates how to repair an Apple laptop motherboard, with $2 in parts and about an hours worth of labor. The same repair done by an authorized Apple service center costs $750. Here's the irony. The software you need to diagnose and repair the particular problem is only readily available to authorized service centers. And, they don't repair motherboards. They only replace them. If Apple made cars, their policies regarding service information and repairs would land them in jail. Imagine your car was running poorly because it needed new spark plugs. Then, your mechanic tells you that he has to install a new engine to solve the problem. I could see investing $1000 on item I could rely on for three or four years. That would work out to less than $30 per month.

I bought the 5s when it came out and I think that cost me about £800. Cheaper in the long run than getting it through a contract. But then I still have it now, I wouldn't be spending a grand on a phone every year ha.

My Nextbit Robin was only $150 unlocked It's probably like 90% of a flagship at 1/6 the price, as long as you're fine with the abysmal battery life. Ofc there's also the Moto G5 at around the same price if you want a better battery but I wanted USB-C I'm eyeing the new Razer Phone but its $700

My Xperia S worked fine for like 1.5 years then it started having bugs, my Galaxy S5 is turning three years in January and it keeps failing in multiple areas (and no, I'm done with trying to fix it, and do not tell me to try and reset it, I've done that a few times). When I think about that I've spend way too much money for what I got. Actually my Apple devices last longer and better and after my former class teacher told us that her iPhone 4 still works perfectly fine I am so going to spend my money on an iPhone. Not sure whether I'll go for the SE or 6s yet but I am saving up money for one of those two. (and when I say my teacher's iPhone 4 still works perfectly - she hasn't bought it two years ago somewhere on sale but back when it was released, considering the problems with phone lifetime that I have...)

Apple's phones have enjoyed a good reputation for reliability and a very high customer satisfaction rate. I have a friend that is still using an original iphone. Apple computer owners seem to be pretty loyal too. They have had a few models that were particularly problematic. I think they are overpriced in the first place. And, when you can't get one repaired at a reasonable price, that hurts.
