Well it turns out this college thing is just not for me, at least the course I'm doing right now. Time to drop out one more time and really work on what I actually want to do.

It's ok, college wasn't for me at all either. I ended up going to what is basically a trade/technical school and then got a real job pretty soon after. Skipped all the BS of useless classes you'll never need.

Skipped all the BS of useless classes you'll never need. Nice to see other people have been in this boat. I wanted initially to do a Criminal Justice course starting from next year but had to do a one year long Social Studies course in order to get there. So I started doing a Social Studies & Applied Psychology course this September, and even though it is only meant to last for a year, I hate it. I have two "dreams" in life, to either make music or become a homicide detective. I was thinking about it the other day and trying to achieve a goal in a way that I hate will just make me despise that goal. So I decided to achieve my other goal, music, but doing just that: music. So that I can do what I love while trying to get what I love. I think I've made a good decision. And if I ruin my life like everyone's telling me to, then at least I'll have ruined it in a way I enjoy

I was thinking about it the other day and trying to achieve a goal in a way that I hate will just make me despise that goal. So I decided to achieve my other goal, music, but doing just that: music. So that I can do what I love while trying to get what I love. I think I've made a good decision. And if I ruin my life like everyone's telling me to, then at least I'll have ruined it in a way I enjoy Heh I want to pursue music too but realistically it's not going to be financially viable right now. At the very least you've got to have something to pay the bills with while you pursue your passion. So I work a real day job at a TV and radio station but do music on the side when I can such as open mic nights and YouTube videos. Depending on what exactly you want to do with music, whether it's being an artist, or being a producer, manager, engineer, teacher, etc. you've got to find some way you can actually make money at it because generally it's very difficult to actually make a living with it. If being a homocide detective is something you really want to pursue and you're already sort of on the path to achieve it, I would encourage you not to make any rash decisions and drop out because of one class you don't like. You are more likely to probably make a living at the detective thing and you would probably make more money as well. The only reason I dropped out of college is because I felt like I was wasting my time and didn't like what I was studying and didn't know what I wanted to major in. But it sounds like you know what you want to study. Maybe some of the classes will suck but if that's part of the requirement to get the degree then that's just what you have to do. I'd say at least give the situation some serious thought before making any decisions. I was gonna do the whole "music will be my life" thing too but you have to be seriously and I mean a SERIOUSLY disciplined and focused person to make music your main focus every day when no one is forcing you to or making sure that you do. I ended up not having a job at all or any goals to aspire for for several months and ended up going through depression. It was until almost a year later after dropping out that I found out about the broadcasting school I went to and finally found a path again. So I'm just saying it may be what you think you want to do but unless you've got real plans in place of how you're going to do it, it may not pan out. And it's good to have a day job or Plan B to fall back on. It can be very risky to let go of a sure thing. If you really want to pursue music, at least maybe look into a music school or internships at radio stations or recording studios. Because it may give you more of a solid path to follow rather than trying to figure out how to do it on your own.

If you really want to pursue music, at least maybe look into a music school or internships at radio stations or recording studios. Because it may give you more of a solid path to follow rather than trying to figure out how to do it on your own. That's something I've thought through a lot as well. To be fair I have always wanted to do music and I got the idea to become a homicide detective only last year. It doesn't really have much meaning to me other than the fact that I'd get to bring bad people to justice. Whereas music is something I grew up with, I'm quite active in the local scene already and I'm on my way as we speak. But I'm also the kind of person who gets extremely frustrated and depressed if I do something that doesn't interest me, in this case Social Studies. I'm really only doing it to get points to get to another course, and if I hate the way I achieve it, then I'll hate the course I want to do. Music, on the other hand, I can work towards in a way I enjoy and in a way which is therapeutic as well(I have been diagnosed with dysthymia) and actually makes me feel good and as if I'm getting somewhere. To keep up with bills and things, I luckily have just the money to do it, thanks to my job as a dog trainer. I will however do a sound engineering course next year which I know I will find comfortable compared to learning about how to care for children and people with disabilities(really not my thing.)

I go to offered to sing on someone's Christmas record from someone at my church!! I sing in the choir and they came up to me after last mass. We did the first session of recording today and it was fun. C: soundcloud.com/alavignefan/testt

Me and my friends had a little excursion up the hills. The roads up the hills have some pretty impressive views. It was actually pretty scary because not all of the road has railings and it's a long way down if you screw up. Some 1000+ feet up, high enough that my ears popped. Unfortunately, I had to bail halfway up because I started running low on gas. On the way down I had to stop and take a picture. My friends made it without me.

The YuCan Quest starts today. Super excited to be back on the road with my pooch! We're doing a mileage marathon so we choose where and how far we go. I'm thinking we'll do somewhere around 10kms each day this week.
