She looks fine, let her be. Anyway, do we have videos? I heard that Taylor's team takes them usually down.

I find Avril's outfit in this performance fine - it's plain normal. Swift is wearing a similar thing. But her clothes does give me the feeling that her self titled era is not over yet, regarding the fact that she wore different clothes on each era. What about phrasing as "She hasn't begun the next era". I think she just wore like that especially for this special guess show. Not much doing with next album. She usually has particular outfit when it comes to duet on stage except with Chad Kroeger

I wonder who they cancelled for this show to put Avril there. I am very sure they started planning this last week after Taylor wrote Avril because of this tumblr-thing. Anyway, it's great to see her again. Maybe she gets hungry for success now, its been a while since she filled stadiums like that. I hope we will get some videos

I hope she gets more hungrier. This is not enough.

It's no surprising that it happened, after all the "tumbrl fiasco". Taylor likes Avril and there are a lot of her fans who happen to like Avril too, so it was a nice surprise for them. I think Avril looked fine, she sang well and looks like everyone had fun. I wonder who they cancelled for this show to put Avril there. Well, I think being hungry for success can be double-edge sword. I'd rather she released a not-so-successful album that I love (GL) than a successful album that I hate (TBDT). I wouldn't like she got "full-on pop" just so she can be successful again, I'd rather she take a more "indie/alt" path even though she doesn't fill stadiums ever again. But that's just my opinion, it's up to her to decide, as long that's what she really wants to do/be and not just to be relevant/successful again.

Didn't GL fail because Avril "tried to become relevant again" by following the new flow of the pop world?

I mean, after all TBDT was her last era that had great material and was successful... Quality + success > quality

Quality
TBDT > GL
Success
TBDT > GL
For already-famous artists like Avril Lavigne, Quality = Success
Whether it's "full pop" or "indie/alternative" doesn't matter. Only the quality matters.
However, fan preferences are commonly TBDT < GL

Anyway, I posted another video in my post above with the whole performance and no annoying girl singing along. EDIT I don't wanna make the discussion go off topic further, but what I was trying to say is that I hope that her next album comes at least close to the musical perfection that is TBDT and has at least 1/4 of its success. Love ya. xx

Didn't GL fail because Avril "tried to become relevant again" by following the new flow of the pop world?
If you mean including Max Martin songs, it's not what she really wanted, she clearly stated a few times. If she had wanted to " be relevant again by following the new flow of the pop world", she wouldn't have released an acoustic-based album that was aggressively rejected by her label, she would have released full-on pop album with some of the things that were "in" at the time or that simply were "pop candy" or something (like Taylor did last year). The 4-year gap between 3rd and 4th album is mainly what made her "fail", along with RCA bitchiness and lack of support, which caused the album to be delayed one year. She wanted to released it in June 2010, but after Alice "flopped" RCA decided it wouldn't be a good idea to release the "original" Goodbye Lullaby. And giving fair promo to WTH, they decided to stop supporting her when she released Smile; and when WYWH was released she had already switched to Epic Records. My main concert about her "being hungry for success again" is that she might get TOO pop for my taste and I would have to stop being her fan. TBDT was still somehow edgy, but all the "poppy" elements that album/era had almost made stop being a fan. Imagine if she went "full-on pop", I don't think I couldn't handle and support her on that...

Quality is subjective, and a lot of times it comes down to personal taste/preference. I prefer ind/alt more than full pop, and much more when it comes to Avril, who I started to like because she wasn't as pop as others. If we can't completely agree on this issue, I can't imagine what can go through Avril's mind.
