I understand that everyone is interested, I'm not an exeption. It's just too detailed.. Nevermind, my point of view is often different from others
There are his other posts on that site, and they are all detailed.
He wrote an essay, which should be detailed and relevant to his personal life. (and this post was 'recommended' by the Staff of that site Medium. Great post.)
ok, I was wrong, thanks for explanation

What are the symptoms of eating disorder? There are many different symptoms and many forms of eating disorders. Where you thinking of any specific?

What are the symptoms of eating disorder? Did you not read what he wrote? He explains what he's been living with in quite a lot of detail.

It makes sense why Evan would want to write such a public post about it- to bring awareness. Just like Avril brought awareness to Lyme and told people to be careful in the woods and around bugs, and Taylor told everyone to get tested when her mom got breast cancer. It's good for Evan to put his story out there so that maybe if there are others suffering the same thing they might find the strength to tell someone just like he did.
I think there are different symptoms of an eating disorder, depending on the nature of the disorder. Anorexic people rarely eat at all and eventually could become unnaturally thin, with bones showing through the skin, and fainting from lack of nutrition. Bulimic people eat but immediately throw up everything they've eaten. If they always go to the toilet immediately after eating that could be a red flag. Then there are binge eaters who overeat.
But, this is not to say that everyone who is skinny or eats a lot or whatever necessarily has an eating disorder, so do be careful about that. I get accused all the time of being anorexic simply because I am naturally thin, but I eat several times a day. So physical signs aren't enough to determine an eating disorder.

I get accused all the time of being anorexic simply because I am naturally thin, but I eat several times a day. So physical signs aren't enough to determine an eating disorder. Same, it just shows the lack of knowledge of EDs and mental illness as a whole. As for him speaking out, people not knowing is not only draining as you have to keep up an act of being fine and dandy, but it also makes you feel ashamed of being ill. Mental illness is often referred to as a silent sickness, and with no one knowing, there's no one to fight alongside you and no one to understand. You can feel so judged by people (and I can't imagine the scale you'd feel that if you were famous) and speaking out lets people know the truth and therefore won't get angry if you're struggling with something they don't know about (Avril and her poor concerts is one example, albeit not a mental illness). I've suffered from anxiety and depression (thankfully the latter not anymore) since being a child and when people didn't know and I just couldn't bring myself to leave the house, I'd have friends complain at me and bitch about the fact that I never make the effort to see them, but the idea of leaving my 'safe place' was terrifying. Or I'd get worked up over something tiny and be accused of causing a fuss and being pathetic. I've started to tell people now and people being supportive is so uplifting, and tbh I think it's brave Evan spoke out - it's a bloody scary thing to do. As well as raising awareness for a very misunderstood illness. Just my 2 cents. Don't judge someone or their actions until you know their story. (Not aimed at anyone ). kremniushka, not trying to call you out in anyway, but an ED is not a weakness.

I'm not disputing you - but people forget mental is a health-related way too But yeah I got what she meant, it's just that people who suffer from EDs will often beat themselves up over being 'weak', hence why I don't like it being said as such - even if there's no harm behind it, people suffering may take it to heart. No drama intended, this was off topic so apologies.

It's such a shame that he has lived with an eating disorder for so long and yet felt unable to say anything about it or even admit it to himself, which is not uncommon with many mental illnesses so I'm glad that he wrote that post because not only is it raising awareness but may also encourage other people going through something similar to seek help. I had thought recently that his Facebook posts seemed very down on himself. I wish him all the best.

My problem is the oposite, I'm always so engaged in doing things, that I forget to eat many times But I have great genes regarding this, for me it's pretty hard to gain weight, and I'm quite small framed
Evan must be idling way too much now, his mind must be quite empty now and he fills it with these paranoid thoughts, he needs to get a real painful self concious health problem to realize he has absolutely nothing worth worrying that much
Anxiety is also a physiologically powerful trigger for weight gain in some people, he should fix he's underlying problems first and stop the cycle
