Tbh I dont believe every website but I also dont believe everything that Avril said. She may have listed some bands as her influences but sometimes that sounded more like trying to get "street credibility" than being honest. I clearly see a strong similarity between Avril and Gwen Stefani/No Doubt and I'm sure Gwen influenced her or maybe Avrils Label had Gwen in mind when they 'created' Avril early image

Do you listen to some of Avril's influences? Not really. Personally I might listen to some songs of some of her "influences" occasionally. But that's all. She was the one who introduced me to heavier styles of music and bands who played heavier stuff. But I never really listened to/was a fan of any of the artists/bands she was "influenced" by.

Mostly all of them.... Alanis, The Distillers, blink182, Hole, Sum 41, Incubus, some Marilyn Manson, Green Day, The Ramones

An interview where she said she listened Pennywise while on high school.. And now [by the time of the interview] enjoyed Frank Sinatra Q: You’ve been in the music industry for years. Who, or which band, would you say is the biggest music influence in your life? A: "Not one person in particular. In high school I listened to Pennywise, Blink 182 and the Dixie Chicks. Now I love listening to Frank Sinatra."www.herworldplus.com/celebs-men-sex/celebs/avril-lavigne-talks-about-black-eyeliner-and-frank-sinatra

I like Avril's influences but I don't think that those influences really influence Avril. I just think Avril like about their music but not really influences.

"Pop punk singer-songwriter Hope Vista is making a name for herself in a hugely male-dominated scene, n ew EP Prevail takes influence from Let Go-era Avril Lavigne and it kicks ass.New York-based Hope Vista has just released Prevail, which shows off just how rad it can be when pop punk and power pop meets old-school alt-rock. You have a fairly versatile sound, what would you say your main influences are?I mean, I guess it’s versatile. But it all falls under the same umbrella. You can definitely hear where certain influences ring out, though. That’s probably where the versatility gets brought in. It all revolves around pulsing guitars, infectious, heavy hooks, and layered, raw vocals. I found a lot of inspiration in 2004 Avril Lavigne and Linkin Park’s Meteora from 2003. Modern inspiration came from both PVRIS and Set It Off."

Her dancing for TBDT era was inspired by Nelly Furtado
"The "Girlfriend" video, which premiered on MTV's "TRL" the last week of February, reveals another first for Lavigne: some lighthearted, choreographed dance routines.
The moves were partly inspired by a fellow Canadian. "I saw Nelly Furtado play live, and I was like, I totally need to do that," Lavigne said. "Now every night I go to dance rehearsals ... I'm going to do some dancing. Not on every song, but this record is just so upbeat and rocking that my show is going to be a whole new level.""

In this interview, she talks about Green Day and The Pixies... being the best concerts she has ever seen. And mentioning Alanis Morissette, Courtney Love and Brody Dalle (The Distillers) as her favourites female-singers.

And mentioning Alanis Morissette, Courtney Love and Brody Dalle (The Distillers) as her favourites female-singers. Imagine what she would be like now if she was heavily influenced by Courtney!! (I'm teasing - I love Hole/Courtney but am obviously well aware that there is very little comparison)

Member (Pat) from post-grunge band Seether listened to Avril back on 2004 -MetalUnderground: What’s the most embarrassing thing you listen to? -Pat:Most embarrassing? Probably Blind Melon? I have Avril [Lavigne] in my iPod. -Shaun: You DO have Avril in your iPod.? -MU:“Sk8er Boi”? -Pat: No. The new one. -Shaun: He had a crush on her until she got engaged to [Sum 41’s] Deryck Whibley. She’s got his initials tattooed on her stomach. AND they bought a house together, a $14 million house. AND, apparently, she’s a drunk, dude. -Pat: Cool. -Shaun: Awesome. -MU: How do you know so much about Avril? -Shaun: Actually, we know everything about everyone in the music business. Ask us anything about anyone and we’ll pretty much tell you. Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are splitting up. [Laughs.] Ashlee Simpson still needs to get punched in the face. We buy music magazines all the time. I can’t watch the music channel anymore because they honestly drive me insane now. Everything from Revolver to Circus to Guitar World to Blender. We have all those magazines with us all the time. That’s how we know so much about the bands we hate. [Laughs.] FULL INTERVIEW: www.metalunderground.com/interviews/details.cfm?newsid=13661

So what's your point beyond taking a cheap swipe at her? The link was a waste of time since you already posted the entire mention of her by two random flops. Sorry it wasted your time, I was taught to publish the original source whenever I quoted something

It has no relevance to the topic. So what do you really think of her? The topic is about Avril's influences and people who follow(ed) / enjoy(ed) her music. Since that dude used to listen her, I quoted that interview. What I think about Avril? Actually that's not relevant on this topic.

A member of Lillix band talking about how the label wanted them to have Avril's image: " With the image thing, it was definitely a lot of the label trying to make us look like Avril Lavigne. They tried to push this punk look on us and we kept saying, "We don't wanna be punk! We don't know know what that means!" And we weren't punk. But that was the early 2000s when it was all about Avril Lavigne's fashion or whatever. So there were some confusing and conflicting things going on with our image and music. And I think why Lillix maybe didn't go farther was because everything was a compromise and just done half-assed instead of fully committed. So it was pretty damaging to both our image and music, because no one understood what we were and we weren't allowed to be genuine and work with people we liked. The label was really trying to get on the radio by imitating the current sound, which still happens to this day." noisey.vice.com/en_ca/article/louise-burns-is-happy-but-she-still-wants-to-write-sad-songs
