I’m not trying to say we’re entitled to anything but I feel like we deserve some explanation or update about where she’s at with music. She’s been talking about releasing it since at least last year or maybe even earlier than that, we had studio updates and now she’s gone silent. It feels a bit unfair to the fans to talk about releasing music and then just ghost us. Even if she said she was still working on it, that’s not the issue, it’s just simply updating us on what’s going on. When customers are interested in your product and then you just ghost them with no explanation it’s kind of disrespectful to the people who are willing to put time and energy into supporting you. Movie studios, publishers, etc. do this all the time with updating their customer base if there’s going to be a delay with putting out a film, book, show, etc. It’s only fair to let people know it’s not coming just yet and when they might reasonably expect something so they don’t just lose interest and leave. Hey you know what. Im just glad we aren’t rihanna fans, 8 years of teasing a new album and nothing. Her updates are just as bad as Avril’s 🤣🤣🤣 at least Avril is doing something this year. Also I like Rihanna’s music I’m not saying oh I hate her but I’m saying like, imagine being a Stan and it’s been 8 years and still nothing

I think this is the main reason why she doesn't have strong fanbase like she used to earlier. I know changes in musical sound and taking longer breaks do add to her downfall but you can't expect people who religiously invest their time in you to just wait and get no updates right. So, most of it is her own fault why she isn't that relevant when it comes to chart success.

No cuz Rihanna hasnt put shit out in 8 years yet shes stil widley popular, she put out a song tomorrow instant number 1. Shes a 2000s artist plain and simple, she was already kinda going out of business when self titled came out, her getting sick from Lyme Disease was the nail in the coffin. People moved on, I love her to death yes byt thats also cuz i love the 2000s and i grew up in that era so of course i follow her. But other people just don't care as much. Name me one artist from the early 2000s that is still relatively successful and popular? Because. I literally cant think of one. (Beyonce and Pink wait but id also argue Pink got more popular way later on in 08) Like Blink 182? Not nearly as popular as they used to be in the 2000s and are a nostalgic act now, Sum 41 same thing. So its not really mostly her fault its just the matter of the fact shes had a career for 20 years now and is still working an dputting out music and touring today which for an early 2000s artist is very rare

I think she changed her plans. The album was replaced by the GH/tour. We will probably get AL8 next year now, and I still believe we are getting a new song anytime from now on (to promote the tour/GH). Honestly, probably was for the best, maybe now she can have a sense of direction for AL8 and the album can be very distant from love sux (I love love sux but I do want something different now)

Avril has an awful habit of saying things too early. I’d LOVE to see a post from her like “my new single xxxx, out now!”. Instead we get 18+ months of “new music soon!”, “I’ve been in the studio!”, “I’m writing loads!”, “music next year!”. Then when she does announce a single we have to wait a week for it. Then the album gets announced for 4 months time. It’s boring. Surprise us!

I agree, she needs to move faster in today’s world. At most, usually artists announce their album maybe 2 months in advance (Taylor announced Midnights in August for October, TTPD was announced in Feb for April. Ariana announced Eternal Sunshine in Jan for March). There’s so much music getting released that people will not remember to check something out they heard about months ago.

Taylor Swift's debut was 2006. Kelly Clarkson debuted when Avril did, even slightly before. Again the differences are they continually release music and are in the public eye. Avril took a mega break between UMS and TBDT then another between TBDT and GL. That was the end of it all. Not Lyme or self-titled.

Kelly is not that popular at all anymore she’s way more known for her show chemistry did terrible. Pink maybe but Beyoncé started 03 so a year after Avril. I literally said pink and Beyoncé were the exception. Taylor was 06 and didn’t become big until 2012 that’s when she got mainstream big around the same time Avril started falling a bit. Honestly imo her getting sick with Lyme is what hurt her the most cuz that’s right when streaming became massive and she was battling Lyme disease

Also UMS and TBDT was 3 years, which is normal for an artist 1-3 years. Billie slush just took 3 years in between her last album and this album coming out in May. Also remember she was acting in 2006 and got married she was doing other things. I will say the space between TBDT and GL did hurt her but she also had Alice in between then. Hell didn’t HTNGU do decent as well? Top 20 I believe. Plus she was married to Chad which people made fun of cuz it was the guy from Nickelback the band everyone hates for no good reason.

One more thing id like to change is when she does release the song to not just beat us over the head with stream my single on insta stories and perfom it over & over. I know that's what she has to do but it's boring. We need fan engagement like nice lyric videos, performances on YouTube like an acoustic set of other album tracks, meaning behind the songs, stuff like that. There's lots of things she could do with social media now and most of what we get is mini photoshoots and a chance of her answering the same questions in the comment section.

I said something like that, like Avril doesn't know about it, but her team... they definitely should know. There are a lot more opportunities in this business now than there were 20 years ago. Sometimes I think maybe it was thanks to Feldi and Mod that we got the LS Deluxe

Avril seems to have a very different working mentality because she hasn't moved with the times.

I don’t expect some surge of popularity for Avril no matter what she does, but I do at the bare minimum expect her to at least try to keep her existing fans engaged

Avril's fanbase grew up and her music didn't. That's the main reason why many people stopped following her. I found a pretty interesting article written in 2011 about the decline of her popularity based on Black Star Tour in Canada, which explores the conflict of her image and sound after her teenage years. You can read it here: www.ctvnews.ca/avril-lavigne-experiencing-dwindling-canadian-crowds-1.718136

SHe wanted to make GL acoustic way more mature and the label was like Nope Girlfriend 2.0 please. And its weird now because thats what people want to hear from her, the bratty songs HAW got completely ignored, but LS was the comeback apparently after so many years
