I just want to see if anyone feels like i do.
First let me start of by saying as a guy in the 8th grade liking Avril it was hard i was teased but of course i didt care i liked listening to her.
And that brings me to the reason of this post is why i like Avril Lavigne.
To me its just the emotion i feel when i hear her songs its soul warming to me and it always makes me feel better. Listening to her music had a huge impact on who i am now.
I cant even begin to think what it would be like without her. I know that sounds weird and even more so for a guy.
Sorry for the long post guys.

Some of her songs make me feel confident and ready to take on the world for the day. Other songs help me get through rough times. Some songs help me get out a certain emotion.
But I mostly listen to her feel-good popier songs because that's the kind of mood I wanna be in 24/7 XD
I remember senior year of high school, my best friends moved away and I felt alone, so I was listening to a lot of UMS at the time because I couldn't really relate to any of my other classmates.
Junior year was when GL was being released and it was a happy time for me, so I listened souly to the two upbeat songs for the entirety of that year.
My first 2 years of college I was dealing with a lot of people just using and leaving me, so that's when I really got into GL and listening to those songs for the majority of those two years.
Then AL came along and the upbeat songs helped me get through those friend issues and brought me back into a better mood.
Now that I've been dealing with an illness for the past 2+ years of my life, Fly came along just in time because it helps me through my rough days dealing with that.
I'm so excited for her next record!!!

She is like always there for me - "I'm With You" .
I wonder a lot of fans or listeners have been bullied before... Anyway, she created this wonderful world where people are afraid of life and feel lost. She has one hand holding her life experience and one hand embracing us. What I want to say is that she gave us something worth to be believed. This makes me not feeling that ashamed for my life which is still worth living for

First time i felt like Avrils songs "did something for me" was when i started to get ill, and suprise suprise - Keep Holding On was the one thing helping me through. But mostly Avrils songs make me smile and make the days a little easier, even the GL teacks. It's not many of her songs that feels personal to me, but i like to make up stories behind the songs. Who was it inspired by and why did that make it to the lyrics sheet?

I remember being 6/7 and seeing Sk8er Boi on 'Pop' and was obsessed with it since. My childhood was a bit rough and so my dad was just really happy I'd shown an interest in something and bought me the album. I used to drive him and my brother mad by playing it all the time.
Then UMS came out at a time where I was really struggling and it, for the first time, made me feel like I wasn't alone. Nobody's Home in particular spoke to me.
Then with TBDT, after the initial shock, was just fun to listen to and also a nice mix of 'go be yourself' and encouraging songs. With GL and AL, I was simply just excited for the albums. Again, I can listen to her when I feel happy and want some upbeat, fun music. Or if I'm sad or angry or just want a little motivation I can also listen to her music and let some emotion out.
I know many singers are relatable, but I really think her music speaks to people.

I don't always fine tune my ears to listen to the lyrics and often just listen to the song as a whole. Avril's music was enjoyable for me. I like the genres she has experimented with; I didn't listen to many artists with similar styles before listening to Avril, but after I found more artists with the same/similar styles because her music appealed so much to me. I love her voice; she can do so much with it, it's so versatile - she hits those low notes and then hits those high notes right after. She can sound sweet and playful but she can also really put emotion into her performance. I love when Avril is almost screaming in her songs, kind of how she does when she talks to the crowd on stage.
But when I do listen to the lyrics, sometimes I try to connect with the song and other times I don't and just listen to the words she's saying. I love the types of messages and feelings she portrays in the lyrics. I love how Avril has songs that make you want to dance and sing along to while also having having ballads because ballads tell a story; and whether or not you connect with it, the song can still be powerful.

In my case, prevented me from dozing off. Had an Avril-tracklist for studying.
If you strongly think that listening to music while studying is harmful, then I don't have to much to say. But since I was extremely familiar with her music, it didn't distract me much.

Hmm well, like most Avril fans, her music has stood by me since I was a kid so it really depends on the years. But if I concentre on the beggining, Strangely enough, my discovery of her music intertwins with one of the most traumatising event in my life. For some reasons , on the same month I discovered her, my life as a 12 years old changed completly and for the worst. In one day I lost everything I had. My daily life was destroyed and had to relearn all about it. It was a nightmare.Never felt so lonely and didn't understand what was going on. As the months went by, it wasn't easy. But I had Let Go.I was listening to it on my little radio , with my headphones. Doing nothing but just listening to it, sitting on my bed. It was my first cd and I was so amazed by the sound. I only had her cd, not even an other one. She was the only singer I liked. I felt very lonely at the time, being a little kid left alone, and she was like a friend who was always there. It went that way for 2 years, and the entire time Avril's music was there for me. That's how I felt. No matter where i'd end up , she'd be there.

I can separate this topic to 3 ways If I'm happy I listen to her quick song such as: Girlfriend, Sk8er boi, WTH, Smile. To tell the truth I can listen Sk8er boi, Smile every day. Smile is a song which always cheers me up. If I'm sad I like listening her slower songs, such as Wish you were here, Everybody hurts, When your gone,Nobody's home If I want to get motivation or stay strong I always listen to Keep holding on, I'm with you, Fly and of course Nobody's fool.

Growing up i moved around a lot so i didnt get to know too many friends i was an awkward child that was quiet and withdrawn. Then Let Go came out and it was like all the songs were speaking to me. It taught me not to put up with anyones BS and just love myself for who i am.

I mostly just enjoy listening to Avril's music because it is really catchy and has good melodies. And she writes about things that people can relate to, which I think is why so many people like her. No matter what situation you're going through, Avril has a song about it- breakups, death, being yourself, feeling lonely or sad, having a bad day, or rolling around in your underwear like a silly kitty I related most to her songs when I was younger, in high school, and going through typical things like a guy that I liked that wasn't who I thought he was (My Happy Ending, He Wasn't, Complicated) and when I felt like I wasn't very popular or well liked (Unwanted, Nobody's Fool, Anything But Ordinary, Freak Out). When I experienced a death in my family (Slipped Away, Everybody Hurts). There was something cathartic about having my feelings translated into words. It was like Avril "got" me and what I was feeling and I think that's the case with a lot of her fans. But mostly now as an older adult in my 20s, I just enjoy her music for the fun of it. I love to see what she does next with her music, what direction she'll go in next, who she'll work with next, etc. Each of her albums are all so different from each other and she does different things with each album, so it's always exciting when she is working on something new.

Listening to Avril brightens up my mood and helps me when I was stressed out. Ive been a big fan since 2002 and knew her since the beginning and so happy that I did. I love listening to Avril. With her innovative ways she never kept the same the same sound so she never had songs that sounded alike

I wish I could say how she spoke to me through her lyrics, or how she "got me" or whatever, but I was a 20yr old straight guy when LG came out, so nah Her music was just fun and it was a little bit different. Back then I was working in a factory where we had to listen to the local radio station so it was nice to hear a bit guitar in amongst all the Britneys and Westlifes or whatever else was cool at the time. Now it's mostly sentimental feels.
