I'm totally fine with this forum, the only thing I miss about the old forum is the walls. But we're lucky enough to be able to still see each other, so Sam and Marliz... I experimented with visitor messaging and the add on was terrible to say the least EDIT: not the sugar walls?

Well idk, wall conversations seemed much easier and they were public (not sure if that's always good but..). I usually get lazy to PM someone, idk why. The other thing I miss is the notifications. In the old forum, they were so bright and red I'm totally fine with this forum, the only thing I miss about the old forum is the walls. But we're lucky enough to be able to still see each other, so Sam and Marliz... I experimented with visitor messaging and the add on was terrible to say the least EDIT: not the sugar walls? Of course, yeah I've been singing all my life, all around the time and everything... 10!

In all honesty, I'm glad we have a forum at all. I missed BA so much, and when stuntbrick send me the link to this site through Facebook he really made my day. It's true that this doesn't feel like the old website, but many of the old members are still here and that gives it some continuity.
As for Avril, I don't think her career is dead. As long as she keeps making music and selling albums, it won't be dead. Maybe it's at a downtime right now and i don't think she ever recovers the sales and fame she had at her peak, but if she's still passionate and keeps doing music, I-and many people- will be willing to spend my-their- money on it. Anyways I have the feeling that many people are very concerned about her sales and popularity, and that's something I can't quite understand. Maybe it is because Avril is the only "pop" act I really care about- I still think her music is not straight pop- and the rest of the bands and singers I like are either rock legends on their own right who no longer need fame or money or people that have already accepted they won't ever be the cute boys or girls in the covers of magazines, but to me sales and popularity aren't that important. I can get the whole "pop music" culture revolves around it, but to me to be "relevant" is not so far from being "popular" at high school; something that only lasts for some years and means nothing if it's not backed by talent and/or personality.

I agree with you however I do understand in a way why people are concerned about Avril's sales, since it impacts where she performs, especially on tour. The U.S. was skipped entirely on BST and Europe was skipped on AL Tour. The last time she was able to fully tour everywhere was 2008, which is just sad. If her sales were better, she could tour those places again, or at least her team should think about booking her in small theaters instead of arenas. It also was so nice in her first 3 eras to see her at all the award shows, TV shows, etc. Now she mainly does promo in Asia since that's the last place where she's still really popular and I get tired of seeing her perform and promote in the same places all the time.

I feel like it's time for us to come to terms with the fact that she might not ever reach the level of success that she once saw when she was younger. It's a sad, but not necessarily a bad realisation. The genre of music that she creates is simply just not radio-friendly at the moment and she should remain creating music that she feels confident in producing. This is not a testament to her talent or capabilities, but more so to the ever changing popularity of different genres of music. Theatre tours, small venues and limited worldwide visits may be in the cards for the immediate future, but we should be happy for all the success that she's experienced thus far, and for the output that she's willing to to release hereforth!

I just fear that this temp forum is giving the original BA a reason not to come back :/ Well you won't hear that from us, sharifa is the one working on the upgrade, remember that we opened this only in March, months after the upgrade started; this site is a temporary solution, not a replacement.

But you can still send PMs to members, so I don't see how that's different from a wall. Probably because he can't stalk anymore.

Yes, I can understand your point of view, and being from a country that Avril skips whenever she has the chance I totally agree with it, but i've got the feeling that some people take it as the "lesser evil" of not being popular anymore, when it's actually the greatest one. And definitely, I would like to see her in more award shows. That's something I really miss.
