I guess Molly was the name of your kitten. My sympathies... I don't know what else I can say. I love cats too and feel so lucky my next door neighbour's cat comes to visit me now and again and wants to be a part of my life. Time heals all.

I love cats too and feel so lucky my next door neighbour's cat comes to visit me now and again and wants to be a part of my life. Time heals all. I have a cat now too which I feel guilty owning because my other two kittens didn't live to be one year old and suffered horrible deaths. They were robbed of there lives and deserved more. The one who was 3 months old when she died was always energetic and full of life. The other one was just less than one year old and was so gorgeous she was an Angel. I had to leave my house and her then I never really saw her and I think she was outside alot so ended up getting hit by a car. I feel guilty now that I wasn't there or didn't take her with me when I left. The cat I have now is nothing like her which makes me feel sadder which is why I'm contemplating re homing her. I don't just want any old cat, she was perfect, the only thing I'd ever want in my life and now she's gone because she wasn't getting looked after.

I think I have a burn-out.. but I think I can't call in sick since my collegues are that die-hard and even go to work when they have a fever or even worse a hernia (is that English).. I hear my team-leader always complain about people being sick and at times he is right, always the same people mostly. But I need a break from life itself... I cry often and this is the first time in the 10 years I work for this company I don't drive happy to my work. Work always was an escape and I work 40 hours a week excluding working every 2 weeks also the whole weekends so you have to work 12 days straight then. I have symptoms I need to take a break but it's so damn difficult being with these collegues who are always there even if they have something really concerning...

Yeah, that's an unfortunately common vicious cycle of some workaholics who put their health at stake to prove themselves how non-lazy they are, and those who exploit sick days on the other side. The result is that all employees get hostile towards each-other, and as a result there is even more burnt-out workers in the collective. Terrible situation all around, you have my sympathies.

Most likely has a Latin origin. I've had a couple hernias surgically repaired. Ouch. I really hate it when they cut into me with a knife. I've always heard about how generous the vacation plans are in Europe. Is this a myth? Use a little vacation time maybe? Is it not possible to have an honest conversation with your team leader? Never do it when you are angry. And, always do it in private. I know things are different in Europe. In general, longevity on a job is a point of pride for many people. But, maybe it's time to consider seeking other employment.

Also in my kind of work there isn't much around where I live, it's a small world. It also gives me a a sort of certainty because my partner is rejected from working so I am the person who works for the main income. To have a job for this long gives me a feeling of not to worry at least about finance. My team leader is a good person but a pain in the ass when it comes to people being sick since he's never sick. He's the one who had that hernia and still came to work. Even Human Resources said he had to stay home but nope, mister was on the job till he literally couldn't.

Clearly you don't have a clue about my life and your post is rude. This is about me and not somebody else. If you felt to reply that rude you just shouldn't had replied/quoted me. It's very easy to say people come to work ill are idiots but when you have to work with those 'idiots' they can think about you like you're shit and I just wanna do good in life.

It was an honest mistake. Sorry. There was a time when I would go to work with a cold to try and impress my boss but not anymore. I last had a day off about 2 years ago. I just don't get ill these days which is a sign of how happy and healthy I am. I understand your predicament and sympathise with your predicament.

Only thing I can suggest from personal experience is to do what is best for you - if you need the time off for medical reasons, and especially if your work provides that for you (I don't know, here in the US if you are a full-time employee you get sick days and medical leave for more serious conditions). Screw what other people think, if they want to come to work when they have a serious illness and feel uncomfortable all day long or get others sick that's their problem. You don't have to justify anything to anyone. Even better if you can get a note from a doctor that says you should take time off. If they want to argue about that, it shows they're really just kind of stupid and trying to make you feel bad for something that is out of your control. A hernia is extremely serious and probably could get worse the longer it goes untreated. Your health comes first and no one should ever make you feel bad for that. Screw what they think!

I'm gonna think about this all and try to figure out how to deal with it. It's a mess since I also got the news my stepdad has colon cancer and it has also spread to his liver. My mom can't handle it so I also have to be there for them. I just told my teamleader it will be a difficult time so he knows about it!
