www.breatheheavy.com/is-avril-lavigne-collaborating-with-harry-styles/Is Harry Styles lending his talents to Avril Lavigne? It’s a stretch, but isn’t everything unconfirmed on the Internet? We speculate the two are teaming up together after Lavigne recently followed the former One Directioner on Twitter (she only follows 126 people, Céline Dion being the most recent after news broke her husband René Angélil died from throat cancer on Thursday. She posted a photo with the caption: “Sending Celine Dion and her family my love and prayers for strength and peace.”). Not long after adding Styles, Lavigne shared a behind-the-scenes black and white photo in the recording studio. Styles recently registered four songs with performance rights on ASCAP titled “Already Home,” “Coco,” “Endlessly” and “5378 Miles,” and we’re low-key hoping one’s for Avril. She needs a little extra attention after aligning herself with ex-husband Chad Kroger for the new album, and most recently appeared on a song with Nick Carter titled “Get Over Me.” We could be making something of nothing, but something is better than nothing. Are you following? ___________ Can't believe there is already an article on this.

They seem to love writing articles for such insignificant things (the fact she started following him). Even though it seems unlikely to happen, I'd be curious to hear a song made by these two together. Though I have mixed feelings about Harry.

So was this written by a fan? I'd say the timing between her following him and posting that pic was a mere coincidence. If anything, it was probably her management that had her follow him and the other one. But while I'm not a fan of 1D, Harry is actually quite a good songwriter, which many people don't know. He wrote a song for Ariana Grande's last album called Just A Little Bit of Your Heart and it was incredible for her voice. I wouldn't mind if they wrote a song together, just no duets please.

I find it hard to view the X factor contestants as anything other than talentless fools. If Harry Styles is a song writer I might change my mind but he'll probably only ever just be one of Simon Cowell's muppets to me. I'm fed up of our musicians being picked in competitions. For Avril's integrity as a musician I would advise her not to work with him. At least Nick Carter spared himself the embarrassment of entering one of these mindless competitions.

As somebody who adores these types of shows and have even auditioned for a couple of them myself, I find your comment not only an insult but pretty ignorant as well. There's nothing wrong with people getting into the music industry through something like American Idol or The Voice. Did you know that that was how artists like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Miranda Lambert, Adam Lambert, Clay Aiken, Daughtry, Fifth Harmony, and Phillip Phillips got their start in the business? And yes One Direction, the biggest boy band in the world right now, did as well. Even Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake all had a run on Star Search. Susan Boyle and Leona Lewis also got their starts on reality shows in the UK. These shows give many talented people a chance they would otherwise never receive. The way Avril got discovered is something that rarely happens in the music industry and especially not today. Record labels don't go looking in bars for the next big thing anymore. Most artists won't get signed unless they already have a following, which is built up usually through none other than appearing on a nationally televised show. Many incredible talents have walked through the doors of these shows. So what if some of them came up through a show? Not everyone can be discovered the way Avril was and it doesn't make her somehow better than them because she wasn't. I think Kelly and Carrie would find that completely laughable as they roll in their millions and admire their several Grammys.

Groups that play instruments and deliver the whole package aren't being given a chance in the current formats available in these competitions. I think that is my major hang up with them. I like to see bands that play together succeed. Would Nirvana make it in the current musical environment? U2, The Doors, The Police, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles,etc.... All my favourite bands. Even Avril has always been a member of a band,. I derive no pleasure from watching glorified karaoke and then having it forced down my throat in the mainstream media endlessly.

The Voice allows duos and bands or groups can go on America's Got Talent and The X Factor. There was also a short lived show specifically for a capella groups called The Sing Off. It's more than obvious from your posts that you've never watched these kinds of shows, nor have any knowledge about them or the stars who came from them. Most of the shows contain solo singers but they all have a live band backing them up. In recent years they've allowed contestants to do original songs or play instruments. The main reason they do "karaoke" as you call it, is because the audience mainly wants to hear songs they know and like. Many contestants have even rearranged well known songs to suit their own style. Maybe watch an episode before making these ridiculous comments because it's pretty obvious you have no idea what you're talking about. The only people I ever see make comments like this are old men who grew up in the '70s that think every musician needs to live in their car eating PB and J before making it big and think all the new music today stinks. They need to realize the music industry is a different place than it was then and that artists do not get discovered that way anymore. Avril can hardly be considered a member of a band. She's not. She is and always was a solo artist that has musicians playing with her onstage. She's not and never has been a band.

The audition for potential none-full-package people are already existed way before X Factors, AGT etc... It just presented in another way that is TV show but the audition format in the past. Westlife, Backstreet Boys are also formed under the old fashion audition. I do agree Simon Cowell is an evil person to make quick money by just looking at the instant and direct talent. That is what the show worst at. However, you can't generalize every contestant, Kelly Clarkson, Cher Lloyd are rtc are great musician and talents

Would Avril Lavigne have been discovered on a talent show or would Simon Cowell have branded her too arrogant and not subservient enough in atitude towards him to go through? I don't respect the guy and I don't see why others should either. The standard of musicians since he's been around has gone down.i

While there's definitely a cause for a discussion here about music competitions etc let's keep to the topic of the possibility of them collaborating

LOL Pretty ironic considering Avril was a guest judge on an episode of Idol alongside Simon. She was also a guest mentor for another show called Majors and Minors. Who knows how she would have faired on a show like that, but it clearly doesn't matter since she wasn't discovered that way. I'd also hardly say Simon had anything to do with the decline in musical quality (in your opinion). You should be mad at the advent of autotune instead. JS Anyway, back to topic- I don't believe they are collaborating. For by chance they do, I'd prefer them writing a song together but not necessarily a duet.
