Let's discuss about the one opportunity we get to meet our beloved Avril Lavigne face to face during her concerts: the meet and greets. Pricy, but meeting your idol is priceless, right? Personally, I might actually purchase one the next time she goes on tour. But that 300-400$ will burn a rather hot hole in my wallet. I just hope that the meet and greets in the US (did she do them in the States?) won't be as awkward as the controversial ones in Brazil last year. Would you purchase one? If you have, how was it?

She did M&Gs in the US this year and she actually touched the fans. I think the whole controversy over the ones in Asia and Brazil was either due to the company (Adventures in Wonderland) having strict rules, or it was because Avril was very sick and they didn't know what was wrong with her or if it was contagious, and that was probably the main reason she didn't touch any fans or stand too close. There also were past security incidents there, fans tend to be really out of control in SA for some reason. But hopefully on the next tour the M&G situation will be better, now that she's recovering from Lyme and hopefully she'd be 100% better by then or at least she knows it's not contagious and there'd be no issue with fan interaction.
The prices are ridiculous though. I love Avril and I would die to meet her some day, but I can't afford that price. I've heard from fans who have met her say it's worth it, even if these last M&Gs sucked ass. And I'm sure it is and that you can't put a price on meeting your favorite idol, but I just can't imagine basically spending my entire paycheck on getting to meet her for 30 seconds. Some fans get lucky and happen to see her when she's out and about in LA for free.

I didn't meet Avril yet. But i think the prices for meet & greet are excesive. Seems like we are paying a fortune.
I payed a meet & greet once, but not was for Avril. I don't know if this is off-topic, but i payed in 2011 Speak Now World Tour for a Meet & Greet for the concert of Taylor Swift in Madrid, Spain.
200€ in 2011 that i earned with particular lessons. I thought the price worth it because will be a unique opportunity.
But the Meet & Greet, was a TOTAL HOAX. Only a trick of someone to make more money. Nothing real. No Meet & Greet at all.

I would never pay for a meet&greet and I'm still disappointed that Avril let her fans pay to meet her. I met Avril in 2007 and the meet&greets were for free, so I was lucky

I wouldn't pay for a meet and greet. The best things in life are free, I'm a firm believer in that. Seems almost immoral to me to try and charge fans, I don't know, it just doesn't seem right though I would like to meet her....

Some fans get lucky and happen to see her when she's out and about in LA for free. I wish this was true, the sick thing. But when I had M&G in 2008, the rules were the same. No touching, no hugging, no running etc. Every M&G photo on tbdtour she would have her arms straight down without touching the fans. The first time i've seen a good M&G is after the controversy i the states, her M&G that leg was very good! Her asian one and South american one that tour was really horrible. And also if you check old M&GS like for example the one Francy tweeted and Avril quoted, from her UMS period, she didnt touch her neither. So she has always been like that/her rules has always been that way. I don't know if the rules are because of what Avril says shes afraid of, or if the same rules apply to all. I know for example Britney has the same type of rules but I also know Demi, Selena, Katy, Rihanna etc doesnt at all have that no touching rule. I would though say to anyone suggesting a M&G for next tour, who has the money, to do it, because I think she is not up for doing another controversy with the fans. So next tour, I'm pretty sure all the fans will get the chance to hug her or to get a decent photo. And as you say: theres no price on meeting your idol, when I met her when I was 15 I was sstill so happy I nearly cried after it, but looking back on it, I barley post the photo I have with her because it looks very awkward you know, no touching and all.

I don't think that it is right to charge an excessive amount of money for a momentary exchange of a few words with another person. They should release them free as prizes, or at least turn them into an event with a talk, a Q&A and a signing - otherwise the prices are completely unjustified. So yeah, it's unlikely I will ever attend one.

Sure I want to meet her someday, at least to dream about this is not forbidden so to say. But! As some others people said here, I also wouldn't pay for meet and greet by principle. It's not a normal practice, it f%cks up the whole idea of the meeting, turning it into something awkward. We all know how it is called when feelings are being sold. It's amazing to sell your job, your performance, that's how people do, and make money, and it's even a happy thing to have your occupation both being the job for money and your life dedication. But it's not ok to sell your supposedly feelings, your relationship activities with connected peoples (whom fans kind of are). It's some ugly marketing thing sneaked into and I am not with it. If there is no wish to meet for free, as with friends, just for meeting itself, then it's better to not do it at all. instead of this. I don't know whose this idea is in her case, I'm not sure it's avril choice actually, but she seems to accept this practice. It doesn't make her look worse for me at all, somehow, but no, I am not with payed m&g. Saying about "not touching" thing... Yeah, it looks ugly too, but here, I don't know, but I may understand this. When you are forced to do many 10s hugs and all these emotional filled stuffs, it may get annoying and exhausting and may quickly stop being a something candid, far away from a pleasure. Just because it's too much as for one person at once. Fans are numerous and you are the only one, all want hug you, make a photo with you etc, but hell, how about me? Am I a doll or some parrot to play with all around? (By the way, even using a parrot for this is not very pure morally). This is understandable, in these cases there must be some rules actually, dealing not only with some infection danger but also with reasonable portioning of things in oredr to not exhaust the poor "idol". And fans should not get nuts, should not be too egoistic and think only about their feelings. So with these restrictions I am kind of OK. But when you are paying 200 euros and not getting anything, even a straight standing by your idol, it's another thing, it's crap definitely (this is about the Avengium's experience with TS m&g, which by the way according to the appropriate fans are the best ones compared to others'. xD).

So yeah, it's unlikely I will ever attend one. Yup I know the artist Danielle Bradbery has a drawing on her website for every show where fans can enter the drawing and a certain number get picked for the M&G. I could understand wanting to limit it in some way because let's face it, if Avril held free M&Gs she would get like 1,000 people or more wanting to meet her. So they either have to limit it by making it cost something or at least do a prize drawing. But if only a certain number of fans were picked out of a drawing I think that would upset a lot of people, hence why they just charge something. I don't think there's anything wrong with paid M&Gs, it's just the prices that are ridiculous. Fans shouldn't exactly be entitled to meet the artist for nothing, if they want that privilege they should pay something for it, but I don't agree it should be hundreds or even thousands of dollars. I would say not more than $200 or $300, including original ticket price, should be fair enough for everyone. Or at the least maybe the money could be donated to some kind of charity instead of the artist taking it when they probably don't really need it.

Yeah, that's what I meant by prizes - something like the first people to pre-order tickets or something like that, but a drawing would be a good idea too. I just find it ludicrous and a bit of a rip-off to charge people more than the concert ticket costs itself for quite an impersonal, rushed experience considering a lot of artists will do signings for free.

"the best people in life are free" are a verse of the lyrics of Taylor Swift song "New Romantics" in the Deluxe Edition of 1989 D. L. X. Once again, a glimpse of the supreme intelligence of Taylor Swift XD. I'm a firm believer in that. I think paying such amount is like treating the fans like sheeple (sheep-people) and for some businessmen sheeps and fans are equal and the same. But is a difference between legal businessmen, and illegal and/or corrupt businessmen. The only M & G i payed in my whole life was a HOAX.

I wouldn't trade mine for anything in the world. I received the most beautiful smile somebody has ever given me from the person who I admire most on this earth, the person I would give anything for and nothing i wouldnt give, although I was too nervous to say anything the hug I gave her is something I want to remember for the rest of my life. I have just found out today that I probably have cancer but I think now, when the time comes I can die knowing that I got the chance to see my idol in the flesh, rather than knowing I "wasted thousands of dollars" on just another "stupid meet and greet"

OMG that's terrible! I'm not going to die or anything. I just have a melanoma looking purple spot on my leg that has only just appeared which looks like skin cancer but it's small and probably hasn't progressed into anything serious yet so ill get it removed before it does. It first appeared a couple of months ago and thought it looked strange but then it started going away so didn't think much of it, only last night I noticed it back again, this time it's a lot darker than before and now has a white ring around it and is now giving me a bit of pain so now I'm a bit concerned so will get it checked out.
