I personally wish/thought Sippin' On Sunshine could have been a smash summer hit. It was literally written as a summer song. While Bitchin Summer is an obvious choice, I think it might it have been a little slow to be a big hit. That song definitely grew on me, but Sippin' On Sunshine is defintely my go to song when the weather is nice and I can actually roll the windows and sunroof down. Just so upbeat and happy.
17 and Hello Heartache are both also personal favorite and would have been amazing singles. I definitely think this was an album full of potential singles. The only exception would be that Hello Kitty seems like it would be mainly a regional release instead of international.
Rock N Roll: The song might not really have had much direction or the best lyrics, but it was fun, upbeat, and angsty. Not the best pick for a single, but I think it was written in the mindset of being catchy-single material. Loved the music video we got from it, as crazy as it was.
HTNGU: Even though the promo wasn't the best, it was definitely released at the right time. Right around graduation and prom. It was even more special for myself since it was around the time of my senior prom and high school graduation. It was the song I played as I left the school after my last class and blasted on the way to and from graduation haha.
17: Catchy chorus that those under, around, or past the age I feel could relate to or atleast hope to relate to one day. Definitely one of the highlights of the album.
Bitchin Summer: I feel like this would be more of the chill summer song. I feel like the lyrics paint the picture for the potential music video very well. I can imagine it starting on the last day of school kind of like Baby One More Time/High School Musical 2. Then it transitions to them driving in a drop top convertible laughing enjoying life, hitting the liquor store. Ending with them playing guitar on the beach around a campfire. More of a story video than an Avril heavy video.
Let Me Go: Definitely a great power ballad. I feel the story behind the song and that it was released after Avril and Chad's marriage could have been a great promo opportunity. Song kind of fit their relationship.
Give You What You Like: I feel like it had the potential the be a hit if it had been released around the same time as Royals, fitting into that indie-pop, dark kind of sound. I didn't get all the rage when we first heard snippets or even the full song, but it grew on me. Kind of the same with Royals, until the completely overplayed it.
Bad Girl: While not the strongest single choice, definitely has a oddly kinda sexual, fun beat. I hate to say it, but kinda feel like this song could be a good choice to play in a strip club
When I play it when alone, I start to dance a little slutty to it haha. Definitely a good sex song I feel.
Hello Kitty: Oh Hello Kitty. While I personally love the beat and flow of the song, definitely needs to be a regional single instead of an international release. I also imagined a better music video, but still liked what we got. it was more Avril's look that I was interested in.
You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet: Since first listen, I kind of get an early 2000s pop feel from it. Reminds me of something Hilary Duff-esque. I good kind of safe single, more a promo/hype single for me. This is another track that has grown on me.
Sippin' On Sunshine: Already stated my love for this song. Lyrics and production (atleast during the verses) may not be the best, but it feels super infectious and happy, and puts me a great mood on a nice day.
Hello Heartache: Another favorite of mine, and I feel like it would have done well on radio with good promo. Feels very true, and a little more dark than the other upbeat breakup songs. It also isn't a "boybashing" breakup song which is nice.
Falling Fast: I feel like this could be a refreshing single. Simple and sweet, not over produced. Different from what is out now.
Hush Hush: If
Let Me Go wasn't a single, I feel like this could have been a great ballad single for the era. Kind of like a softer When You're Gone type single.
Sorry for the novel, just felt like getting this out of my head. Didn't go into this post with this in mind haha.
I love Rock N Roll , Im glad it became a single and shouldve been an even bigger song. I love the lyrics and I still believe Avril writes her own lyrics
